Very good storyline, but a bit tricky September 1, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been playing games for years but this was the first "darker" kind of game I ever played. I was very impressed by the amount of choice you get in this game, you can determine so much of it yourself. You choose which forms you want to be able to morph into, and there's a really big variety. The worlds that you travel through are massive. Depending on which forms you take on, you can explore secret areas which can otherwise remain elusive. The annoying thing I found about it was that I got about halfway through the game before I realised HOW to shape shift. That was through my own ignorance and was no fault of the game, but maybe they should have a tutorial as the controls are quite tricky - but should be no problem after a while for an experienced gamer. I haven't actually reached the end of it yet - it is a very complicated game and there are so many missions for you to undertake. The graphics are good and the slightly surreal environment is fascinating. It is challenging but not so hard that you will never be able to get past the first level, hard enough for you to have a hard time getting through it but not so hard that you'll resort to smashing the PS2. There are hundreds of collectible items and the gameplay is very long. I love being able to change shape, so I can roll along in a bug form or float along like a dementor. Once you get into it, it is the most addictive game I have ever played, and has a very unique storyline, quite unlike anything I have played before. It combines strategy and fighting to make an epic quest, and i would recommend it to anyone who thinks they're good enough to play it......
