The best PS2 game I have ever owned! October 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must say, when I was given this from one of my frieds as a gift I thought that it was one of those games with no real enjoyment involved but when I had a go I realised that I was mistaken BIG time! It has so far been the best game I have owned on my PS2, even better than Sonic Plus Mega Collection that I loved! In the game you are set at "Dexter's Diner" where you can select any level (so long as you have completed them), buy characters with the amount of money you need and roam around the Diner Freely. You also get more money and build spaceships by doing a level. To complete the game you need to complete Epesodes I,II and III and to get onto the extra level you need to get all the money and minikits on Every other level. At the End of every Epesode you have to lightsabre duel a person e.g: on Episode I you fight Darh Mual, Episode II: Coant Dooku and Episode III you fight Anikin who later becomes Darth Vader. If f you have a lightsabre you can do the force and double jump. All in all this is a fantastic game and is definately a MUST BUY!
Its got the force March 8, 2008 Mrs. Anne Haskins THis game is probably the best starwars game ever made you can control any character you wish any way you want to BUY IT
One of the best games of it's time. November 8, 2006 Matt Sorf (UAE) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
LEGO Star Wars: the Video Game is an absolutely fantastic title and one of the best Star Wars games ever. It's fun and cartoonish and not too challenging, but the creativity is overwhelming. There are many extra things to do besides just beat the Story Mode and a hidden level and many unlockables. You can play as just about anyone in Star Wars from episodes I-III like the main characters like Obi-Wan and Anakin, as well as characters as minor as Kit Fisto and Shaak Ti. It's easy yes, but this is a thoroughly recommended game that will provide hours of fun, even if you complete it in a few days.
Excellent for kids March 30, 2006 Michael Mellers (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Excellent game - my 5 (now 6) year old boy still loves this one. The drop in / drop out facility is great when you need an adult to join in and help eg. the pod race is very tricky. The game follows the film storyline using the correct characters. You collect all the characters along the way and can replay levels with these new characters that have different skills/powers. As a result the game has long playability for kids. Lots of funny inserts, comic noises etc. Very well put together. Not for serious gamers of course - the age rating is 3+ !!
Great Game! But maybe it´s not what you´re looking for! February 18, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is not an adventure game, but a puzzle solving game. You can die a million times and you´ll keep playing without seeing "game over". You simply cannot fail any of the scenarios, just keep trying until you succeed. The difficulty of the game is in clearing a mission solving all the secrets and picking up all the coins (whenever you die, you´ll lose coins, making this harder). The game is very short and easy to complete, but then you can play every scenario again many times until you solve all it´s secrets. The puzzles are well designed and original, but quite easy if you are experienced in puzzle games. All the game is surrounded with a funny/informal atmosphere which makes it very enjoyable. Graphics are OK, they´re obviously LEGO models, so don´t expect breathtaking scenes, or detailed models. The Jedi characters performing "the Force" can trigger original effects, such breaking a LEGO construction into its bits and then reshape it into a platform onto you can jump, etc... There are many Star Wars characters available, but lots of them are the same with another look. For example, Anakin Skywalker Kid and Boba Fett (Kid) are clones except for their appearance. There are only three "archetypes" of character: Jedis (fast and armed with light saber), Shooters (armed with Blasters), and PuzzleSolvers (without combat power, but with the ability to jump higher, fly, pass through some places or open certain doors, you´ll need them to solve puzzles). In each archetype you can find little differences, for example, a combat droid is a Shooter character who cannot jump but the droid enemies will think it is friendly and won´t shoot it. Few characters are particularly cool (as Yoda or Jango Fett) because they mix cool abilities of others, but they´ve no "unique abilities" of their own. Overall: LEGO Star Wars is a great, informal, innocent, original, and funny game. Very suitable for children, LEGO fans, Star Wars fans, or casual players. But be warned: it´s a puzzle game. And it´s very easy, so if you´re a die-hard gamer looking for a challenging game, don´t but it.
