FIreRed-The ultimate remake! July 25, 2007 C. E. Gregory (england) The verdict... Pokemon FireRed is basically a remake of Pokemon Firered, explore the kanto reigon, same Pokemon in places, same gym leaders, same elite four. It expresses fully developed graphics. Plus after you beat the Pokemon leauge you travel throught the Sevii islands-a bunch of islands with Pokemon from the Johto reigon. Really, its a fun game. Newcomers will feel welcome as this a remake of the first Pokemon games, and hardcore fans will enjoy the familar sights of Kanto. Plus, using the wireless adapter, you cant trade and battle with friends with no cables! The rating: +Kanto reigon is great +Wireless capabilities are fantastic +Loads of Pokemon to capture -Can be a bit 'short' for experience gamers/people who have played the originals -Pokemon cries could be updating. Overall this game deserves 4/5. Buy it if you are a longtime fan or new to the series.
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I'V E-V-E-R P-L-A-Y-'-D February 12, 2007 Polaris Zark (Gwynedd, Wales) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you have never played any pokemon games before, in my opinion, it's the best to start with. to be honest it is one of my best strategy games and one my fun-est (my other best strategy games and fun-est are all pokemon games). I'm a pokemaniac and started being one when i got this game so if you're not sure whether you like pokemon, get this game and you'll have a new hobby in no time. For this game my rating out of 10 is 100, and my rating out of 100 is 1000, and my rating out of 1000 is 100,0000, and so on. The game is the same as pokemon red (an older version) except better graphics, full colour and a few other changes, but I think its much better, in fact I think its definetly changed greatly and is now more fun. At the start it is quite hard to get the feel of the game but you'll pick it up very quickly. Some people don't like it when the game people talk, like when i first started playiing i didn't, but it is actually very usefull because it gives you useful information and helps you get a step further to completing the game. These are my final words: I think you should get this game. Don't you?
The Definitive Pokemon game September 16, 2005 sweet_amber (Lytham St Annes) 30 out of 38 found this review helpful
I first started playing pokemon way back in 1999 when the original red and blue games came out and, to be honest I kind of went off it for a while because it seemed that Nintendo were just trying to get as much money out of the franchise as possible. I tried Pokemon Ruby but couldn't get into it simply for the reason that , in my mind, Nintendo had mucked around with the list of Pokemon. They had put new ones in and taken some out and I never really liked that. But then I heard about Fire Red coming out and how it was essentially a remake of the originals and so I thought I would give it a go. I am now so glad that I did buy Fire Red because it really is the definitive version of Pokemon, I like to think so anyway. It has all the same areas as the old games (with a 'few' new islands) and the same story. Even the people say the exact same things. Out of all the Pokemon games, Red and Blue had the best story and Ruby and Sapphire had the best graphics and Nintendo has made the brilliant decision to blend the two together to make the greatest version of Pokemon around at the moment.
Very good Game August 15, 2005 Josh (England, Norfolk) 15 out of 23 found this review helpful
I really like this game. Don't think not to buy it just because you already have R/B/Y Because it has improved greatly. It has improved Graphics, Abilities and new Pokemon moves, Special Defence, Gender, Breeding, and It is compatible with Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness etc. It also has the Sevii Islands to explore after the Pokemon league. The plot continues and you get the chance to catch Pokemon from Gold, silver and Crystal. It also has Wireless linking (it comes with the Wireless adaptor) and much more. I got it for my Birthday last year. I love this game. And without it, you (sadly) cannot complete the national dex, becasue you can't get the fist 151 pokemon on Ruby:( This is a great Game PS I hope they make a remake of Crystal, because if it was on GBA/DS,GC, it would be a lot better.)
Another pokemon game? July 9, 2005 C. O'Connor (Birmingham, UK) 13 out of 25 found this review helpful
So, the first question everyone wants to know is, what is the difference between this and leaf green? The answer is simple, their are certain pokemon you can only catch on leaf green, and certain ones you can only catch on fire red. Now thats out of the way, onto the review. The game starts you off in Pallet town, with a single mission. Go out and capture as many pokemon possible. Train them, and obtain the gym leader badges through battles, before competing in the Pokemon League tournament. The game has advanced a lot graphically since Pokemon Red/Blue on the original gameboy. The game has many 3D elements, which make the towns and pokemon and their attacks look far better than predacessors Play Pokemon Red and Fire Red together and you will see just how much it has advanced. The music follows the score from the original games, although it is now a much fuller sound. The gameplay works very well. There are over 250 Pokemon on both Fire Red and Leaf green together to capture. To do this is a mission, because trading between the two games is a necessity, and this is annoying if you cannot. (For instance you cannot trade using the DS.) However, there are more than enough pokemon to keep anyone happy. Their are new attacks which have been added, (Rain Dance etc,) and new items to find. The battle system still remains the same with four basic options, attack, run, item, and change pokemon always appearing in battle, and my final note is that there is now a greater emphasis on status attacks. Overall, this is a good game, but far to similar to what we have already seen. We want a new world other than the ones we have already seen.
