Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars One of the best written Final Fantasy games   May 17, 2007

I really enjoyed the SNES version of Final Fantasy V because it had the most humour of any Final Fantasy game I had played and a lot of mini plot twists along the way that kept me hooked. I particularly like the imagination in it - things like a boat that can move without wind because it's powered by a dragon!

There are the standard Final Fantasy turn-based battles and villages to visit but what makes it stand out is the writing of the characters you meet in these villages, there are some great little jokes and cute touches.

One thing I like about this GBA version is that it does have slightly improved graphics and new dungeons and character classes etc. but they haven't changed the essential feel of the SNES game so it's not so much a remake (as, for example the Nintendo DS Final Fantasy III) and is more like a rerelease. As an insight into gaming history as well as a merry little RPG in its own right, Final Fantasy V on the GBA is well worth taking a look at. If you're not already an RPG fan then - usual disclaimer - you probably won't like this. (Start with something else.)
