Amazon.co.uk Review Every good game deserves a sequel, and the addictive, quirky Mario Party 2 certainly fills the bill. This multiplayer party title combines the gameplay of a traditional dice-based board game with several brief action-game segments, including updated versions of 20 of the best offerings from the original Mario Party. There are also 44 entirely new mini-game challenges that pit players against each other as they compete to collect the most stars. Owners of the original Mario Party will be comfortable with this game from the start. Each player rolls a virtual die to advance through various board games, including pirate land, western land, space land, mystery land, and horror land. Several hidden adventure boards can be unlocked as players advance through the game as each player aims to gain the most stars and become a superstar at the end of the game. Various mini-game challenges and booby traps await gamers as they land on some strategically placed spaces on the board. While Mario Party 2 can be played as a single-player game (against three computer opponents), this title really shines in social situations. This is the perfect game to pull out at parties--assuming you have a few extra controllers in the house. --Brett Atwood

BEST 1 SO FAR! January 21, 2007 Mark (Newcastle, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My brother had this on N64, and I've played every Mario Party game thanks to my brother and my g/f who has had the 2 before 7 came out. They are all great games, excellent ideas used within the games, but Mario Party 2 ws the best in my opinion! It had excellent smooth graphics, the fun factor seems higher than the others, the mini games are brilliant and the controls are superb! Back in the late 90's four play was brilliant and was on this game! Was hardly out of the console! Number 8 will be tried later on Wii but if you have the N64 and fancy a retro multiplayer, this is the party game to get!

THIS GAME IS BRILL BUT!!! ITS ONLY FUN WHEN U PLAY IT WITH UR MATES AND THE MORE MATES U HAVE PLAYING THE MORE FUN YOU HAVE.THE MINI GAMES ARE BRILL AND THERE ARE 64 MINI GAMES,THE MINI GAMES WILL HAVE YOU AND YOUR MATES LAUGHING 4 AGES!! IF U DO PLAY THIS GAME IN ONE PLAYER YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OTHER COMPUTER CHARACTERS TO HAVE THERE PLAY AND THATS REALLY BORING buy this game if u have lots of mates this will make a rainy afternoon go bye very quick!!(by virgo chris)
I never knew I was so childish October 24, 2000 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I got into the whole N64 thing very late, picking up all the equipment cheap. My main reason for buying it was playing Zelda (having appreciated but found it unplayable on UltraHLE). A pokemaniac friend bought Pokemon Stadium for it and we found that the mini games were *excellent* fun, particularly for those after-pub/club/whatever chill out moments. So I bought this game, and *it is astonishing*. Being used to PC games I had never really seen a game upon which love had been lavished at the development stage. This game is awesomely good fun, balanced, competitive but never vindictive. Massive multiplayer madness. But then what did I expect... Hudsonsoft did write Bomberman.:O)
