Not a true scart lead. November 19, 2008 Recall (UK) A scart lead is one with a head at the end of a cable that fits into the back of your tv, a strange box shape. A correct scart that offers perfect picture and audio quality are those with ALL the pins in the head. Scart leads with just half the pins in the head are not true scart leads but are actually RGB scart leads. A cable that just turns a 3 plug (White, Yellow and Red) RGB cable into something useable on modern TV's. If you want the best picture quality, make sure the scart has all the pins, lots of these "official" scart leads are third party and not genuine scart leads.
DREAMCAST SCART SOCKET May 17, 2008 A. Pepworth (ENGLAND) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Way better than the bog standard av lead that came with your dreamcast and at 3 pound its worth it to get great crisp sound and fantastic picture its really worth getting one.
Won't beat the clarity. June 27, 2005 A. Randall (East Anglia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My 4 Logitech scart broke a few years ago, so I just *needed* to buy another one-despite the official ones being 20 at the time. The colours where even better compared to the logitech cable!Worth 3, as being sold here. If you use your Dreamcast often, buy one. Enjoy amazingly crisp and sharp visuals on your TV with stereo sound, unlike the RF lead which is blurry and very flickery and only in mono. The colours are spot on perfect, but on some televisions there will be a slight border to the side of the screen-this is the RGB 'left/right shift'. Some televisions have an alignment feature where this can be corrected. It's very minor though; about 1cm on a "14 tv, and it's common to all RGB leads on some televisions. Pros outweigh the cons. Buy one.
Sega DC Scart Cable April 3, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I agree with the chap from England. The cable DOES greatly improve the picture over the RF cable, but is does create a slight border on the left. But, if like me you have a widescreen television with picture alignment controls, it's easily retified.Nice!
Poor out of focus picture, worse than RF cable February 16, 2002 3 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have just received one of these cables from Amazon and unfortunately made the mistake of believing the reviews I read here! The picture is less sharp and less focused than with the standard TV lead which comes with the Dreamcast - and the colours seem duller and washed out. Going back to the original lead after ten minutes is amazing, it's so much better! I thought a Scart lead was supposed to make that level of improvement over the TV lead, not vice versa.. not recommended.
