Its like purchasing a new TV / Console !!!!! April 13, 2006 J. Tuplin (UK / Germany) Just have to say, I agree with everyone!. This scart cable makes an unbelievable amount of difference. At 1st I was a bit sceptical, asking myself "Just how much difference can a cable make?", as soon as I switched the Cube on though... POW! It is immediately obvious. Its like owning a new TV, and playing on a new console! It may seem a lot for a cable initially, but I can honestly say its worth every penny. The graphics are so much sharper, the colours so more vibrant. Dont waste your money getting a cheaper inferior product thinking you have "the real deal", because you will be so dissapointed when you realise you havent! Make the right decision 1st time, and buy this cable! I would advise anyone thinking about buying a gamecube, or who has already got one, make this the next thing on your shopping list. Dont wait 2 or 3 years like I did!
Like the difference between regular TV and HDTV March 27, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a very nice TFT HDTV as an early birthday present, and was disappointed with the quality of the 'Cube's output through the included composite cable, so I decided to splash out for one of these RGB cables. I was in for the shock of my life. The difference is amazing. Over composite on this TV, the Gamecube's output looks comparatively poorly-defined, with tons of colour bleed and very soft edges. Over RGB, colour bleeding is a thing of the past, and the image is sharp as a knife. Now, free from the horrors of composite video, I can really start to appreciate the Gamecube's formidable graphics capabilities. The only very minor issue with this cable is the lack of separate RCA audio outputs, but as a previous reviewer has noted, most TVs which will benefit from this cable will have audio-out capability anyway, so you can still hook the audio up to an amplifier or home theatre system. The bottom line is: if you have a Gamecube and a large-screen TV, you have no excuse for not owning this cable as well.
This should ship as the default cable! January 17, 2006 Mr. C. D. Wilcox (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The standard composite cable that ships with the GameCube works fine for a small TV, but if you want to get the most out of your larger TV then you really need to move to a better connection: whilst the official RGB Scart for the GameCube is expensive, it really does make a huge difference to the image quality on a larger TV when compared with the composite cable. In answer to other peoples comments: 1) You don't have any audio connectors on this SCART: true, but most TVs have audio-out so you can route this to your HiFi rather than plug the GC directly into it. Can't say I've noticed any reduction in quality by doing this, though I'm going in to a decent Sony HiFi rather than any surround sound system. 2) Jaggies: you will see jaggies along the edges of lines/objects much clearer with the RGB lead. Unless the game uses AntiAliasing (which most don't seem to), these lines are par for the course. The reason they aren't as obvious with the normal composite lead is because the poor image quality from the composite lead 'hides' them in the overall bluriness. Overall, the RGB scart gives a really clear and sharp image. Colours are much more vivid, and you can really make the most of the GameCube. Technically, the RGB scart sends each colour signal down it's own wire: composite mixes them all up down the same wire, which means you get interference and a load of quality loss.
Not bad - Not Fantastic June 20, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this cable because the ones supplied makes the image look like it's been through it cheese grater. This RGB cable REALLY improves the image besides a worringly low number of pins in the plug (they don't really need all 21 anyway). Still some jagged lines which shouldn't be there especially when compared to the XBOX scart cable. Still a great (and relatively cheap) product.
THE ONLY RGB CABLE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! August 19, 2003 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought an unofficial RGB scart cable and it didnt make any difference to the picture quality what so ever. It looked exactly the same as the one supplied with the GameCube. I decided to try this one and it dramactically changes the picture quality, the colours are brighter, the picture is sharper and overall the games look better! Nintendo apparently made it so unofficial RGB Scart cables don't give a proper RGB signal, meaning the picture doesn't change at all, only the Official Nintendo Gamecube RGB Scart cable works. To give you an idea of the difference in quality its very much like the differences between these listed below (the first one is similar to the quality with the composite cable supplied with the console, the second is similar to the quality with this Official RGB scart cable.)VHS -> DVD Analogue TV -> Digital TV So don't go wasting your money on an unofficial one like I did at first, get this! It's definately worth the money!
