Amazon.co.uk Review Tired of having to wait months for games to get released in the UK? Angry that some games don't get released here at all? Datel's FreeLoader could be your gateway to import heaven. It looks like an ordinary GameCube disc but once you stick it in your machine you'll instantly be able to play any game from any country in the world. It allows you to play US and Japanese games on your UK GameCube without having to get your console "chipped" or make any physical changes to it whatsoever. You just pop the FreeLoader disc in, then replace it with the game you want to play at the prompt and you're away. What's more, if you were impatient enough to buy a US or Japanese GameCube then the FreeLoader will now enable you to play UK published games on your machine as well. Sounds too good to be true? Well, there are a couple of catches, but they're only minor. Although all current games work with the disc there's the possibility that future ones won't. However, as long as you keep an eye on Datel's Web site you can find out about new versions of the disc to make sure you're as up-to-date as possible. Also, you'll need to use separate memory cards for Japanese and UK/US game data (see the product description below for more information). Oh, and you'll need at least a moderately new telly that can handle 60Hz and NTSC signals, but that really is it. Get FreeLoader and embrace the world of international gaming. --David Jenkins

Works well with WII but not the latest firmware update August 19, 2007 A. R. BUNN (Pocklington, York, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Works well until you upgrade the WII to the latest version of the firmware (version 3.0) when this version of freeloader will not work. BE WARNED Apart from this, I have had NO problems with this on my WII running an NTSC version of Animal Crossing, it was worked 100% of the time.

At present, due to a Nintendo firmware update, the freeloader will NOT work on the Wii.
Useless piece of junk June 14, 2007 the thing 4 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this off Amazon in the hope of converting U.S games to play on my PAL Wii, but noooo, the freeloader turns out to be completely useless in converting the games. After around 5 minutes max of play the game completely crashes and you are told to turn the power off and refer to the Nintendo Gamecube instruction booklet. I did so, but their useless solutions completely failed. I'm fed up with Nintendo for this POINTLESS regionality, and I'm fed up with Datel for making a product which as far as I'm concerned, is a useless piece of junk. AVOID!!!
New version is indispensable. May 22, 2007 G (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you have up-graded from a Gamecube to a Wii and happen to have a stack of imported (NTSC) Gamecube titles then you might have found the old Freeloader doesn't work. But fear not as this up-dated version does exactly the same for your Wii. It doesn't however enable the Wii to play imported Wii games from the other regions so buyers be aware of that. But apart from that no import gamer should be without this piece of kit. Far more convenient than keeping your old Gamecube on the go.
Freeloader (Gamecube) November 10, 2005 20 out of 34 found this review helpful
DONT BUY THIS, for £2 cheaper, you can buy the Action Replay cheat disk, which comes with a freeloader, cheats for 3 different regions (Euro, USA and Japan) and it comes with a FREE 59 block memory card!! AMAZING!!
