Amazon.co.uk Review In these violent times, when every game seems to be described as "darker, more mature" than the last one it's refreshing to find a game that can make shooting bad guys seem like a fun and wholesome pursuit once again. Ratchet & Clank 3 is just such a game and although it may not be deep or original it is fun and amusing, which is a perfectly fair trade in most circumstances. This third entry in the series sees the odd couple returning to the Planet Veldin from the first game and getting involved in another nonsensical adventure that this time features Captain Qwark as a playable character. There's also fifteen new weapons with up to four levels of upgrade, new vehicles like the Turbo Slider and the Hovership and a revamped artificial intelligence for the enemy to provide that extra challenge. Despite all this though the major new feature in Ratchet & Clank 3 is the new multiplayer mode. Offline up to four can compete in various split screen modes or you can go online and play an eight-player challenge in modes such as standard deathmatch, capture the base and siege. These follow the same principles as PC games such as Unreal Tournament 2004 (even down to the inclusion of vehicles) but are much easier to get into and play. The single player mode is still as engaging as ever but with the extra longevity offered by multiplayer this is one sequel that seems to be going out of its way to offer something new. --David Jenkins

The best in the series July 31, 2007 naughty23dog 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you've got a PS2 and don't have the ratchet&clank games you'd better buy them all. Especially this one. Even though I don't like everything (I'd preffer the dual Raptors than the starting weapon of R&C 3 or I might say I got dissapointed by a few weapons and I'd preffer a bigger selection of them) it is the best in the series, even better than Gladiator!
Pretty good November 7, 2006 Ms. M. J. Davies (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is pretty god. It's nothing amazing as other reviwers have said, but nonetheless worth 12. I admit the cutscenes are pretty bad, but that doesn't decrease the gameplay. This game moves with a much better smoothness than the other 2. I would say it flows better, and is alot more fun to play. Overall: 7/10.
This games super. August 17, 2006 Mr. Charles R. Moffat (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'd rate this game 5 star because there's lots of cool weapons my 2 favourite weapons is the black hole one and the RYNO 3.I also like it because there's lots of planets and my favourite part of the game is the brilliant Quark vid comics. And I also like being Clank and big Clank and the idea of Klunk was apsalootly fantastic. And Skrunch is apsalootly brilliant and when I apsalootly brilliant I mean apsalootly brilliant.
Insanlely overrated March 22, 2006 2 out of 15 found this review helpful
Having finished the first two of this great series I was'nt expecting a dissapointment from the third outing of the dynamic duo. However this game is nothing short of a waste of time. The weapons here are basically re-named copies of the previous games weapons such as the "nitro" launcher (nuke launcher), the quack-o-matic (turns them into ducks, is it me or has the novelty ran out?), there's a rocket launcher in there as is the shotgun. Leveling up these weapons is also un unawarding event. After gaining enough exp for the the final version of the rocket launcher the only thing it had achieved was to shoot extra rockets straight into the air. Looks pretty though. The graphics ar'nt special. Sure it can keep up with the masses of lasers and explosions happening but they're still quite bland and un-textured. The cutscenes are awful! Seriously they need to get some decent comedy writers in because these jokes are just dire. The one player, I have realised is basically running through levels resembling the mutliplayer maps killing bots and picking up new weapons and upgrading them. The campaign overall then a very boring affair with a few unwelcome gameplay changes (the car is awful and the free falling sky diving is even worse) especially the objective based short missions which are basically the same as the main levels but your restriced to a small confined space. The mutliplayer is'nt really worth mentioning as it's obviously something they've just thrown in at the end. Unbalanced levels and weapons just make for an akward and repetetive experience. Overall then this games is pretty uninspired, made only to squeeze some more money out of the popular franchise. The new weapons are copied versions of the old ones (similarly to R&C 2 you can import free weapons from previous games which I actually used more than the new ones!), awful script-writing and voice casting and a boring and repetetive story mode. Please, just get Jak 3. Deeper story mode adn characters, original and unique weapons and vehicles and some great laughs too. All which this game lacks.
Ratchet and Clank3 review from the JJMaster February 4, 2006 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
AMAZING!!! This game is one of the best games i have ever played on. if you are going to get a game then this is the one to get. you have a new arsenal including plasma storm, lave gun, qwack o ray and the almighty R.Y.N.O. (RIP YA A NEW ONE!) Basically you have to go through different planets doing missions and trying to save alive people from the robot DR Nefarios and his butler Lawrence. Also when you buy a new weapon once you have used it a lot it will get stronger until it gets to lv5 when it changes what it can do and it's name. this is a must.
