Prince of Persia is a great concept - a tale of adventure and action in the rich setting of the mythical near east. But this chapter of the series fails to make the most of the possibilities. Instead of making the most of the possibilities of the setting and the story line, the developers have created a pretty straightforward hack and slash game. It has some deeply irritating features, not least the fact that much of the design seems to have been done by a pre-adolescent - e.g. the action sequences are accompanied by a kind of naff goth-metal soundtrack, and one of the female boss characters appears repeatedly, wearing a bizarre S&M style suit of armour that is straight out of a 14-year-old's wet dream. Of course, maybe this is the point and I'm just not part of the target market. The locations are all pretty much the same basic setting (a massive, mythical fortress-island), whereas there was surely potential for a story line with much more variety with changes in locations, a greater variety of characters, different blends of combat, puzzle-solving and straightforward platform-jumping.
To be fair, the game is well made for what it is. The graphics are pretty good and the gameplay slick. It's just the content that lets it down. If you have enjoyed the Tomb Raider/ Indiana Jones games, don't expect this to have the same depth of imagination. (Sadly the same applies to the other two instalments currently in the Prince of Persia series, but the Warrior Within is the weakest so far).

While this game is a good game by most standards, I have to say it is the weak link in the POP trilogy. The story line is fairly good however, and the game play is decent (although you will sometimes find yourself cursing the prince) it's smaller things that let it down, like what's with the music selection? Def worth a buy just to keep the POP story going, and while you're playing bear in mind that the best is yet to come from the two thrones.

This game is fun in lots of ways one of them is that you don't just run into a room with loads of enemies and chop them into little bits you have to work out how to get across a ledge or get a door to open. The fighting on this game is great lots of different combos and moves to use. The prince has lots of acrobatic move to help him pass close to impossible obstacles.
I took a star off the rating because I got stuck on one point of the game so I started again but then I found myself in a different place were I had never been, there are secrets to find and you get powers witch are a brilliant idea; also there are 3 different ending so you can play it again and again.
The graphics are really good even better on the videos, game play is really fun if you are a fan of the tomb raider games than this is a game for you, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want a fast thinking game, this game does keep you on your toes!

great game, one of the best adventures on the ps2. manages to combine old school 2D platforming with modern 3D gameplay brilliantly
the first thing that really knocks you back is how amazing the graphics are. beautiful Arabian style architecture, fantastic characters and some really good special effects (i.e the time portal rooms). the prince looks and animates wonderfully, as to the enemies and other characters. there is occasional frame rate issues, but we can forgive them
Warrior Within also has a pretty fine combat system that has a good 'pick up and play' feel, but with practice you can move beyond simply mashing the buttons and learn the cool combos. its also cool how you can spirng off walls, bounce off enemies and other madness. can get a bit frustrating at times... remember to use the block button
the platfomring sections are also really cool with all kinds of crazy acrobatics that make a welcome change from sword play
Warrior within is a fab game and so far i've had a blast playing it.i only really have two beefs with this game. first of all, its lost its fairy tale, arabian nights feel. the original from the 80s and Sands of Time both had that magical story book atmosphere, whereas warrior within has gone for a 'darker' tone. its still pretty cool, but i can't help feeling the series has lost some of its charm with its transition
secondly, the game can get very frustrating because alot of the time you simply don't know what to do. though once you figure out stuff it is very rewarding
no games perfect though, but Warrior Within is getting close
Note to Konami: this is how your 3D castlevania games should play

This game is so difficult to play, but so much harder to figure out what you have to do and where you have to go. For 80% of the game i was trying to figure out what to do and rest trying my best to accomplish it. The "map" is in 3D and doesn't tell you exactly where you are but just a vague reference. There are so many weapon combos listed but i found myself using upto 4 but for most areas of the game just one.
