Fun January 19, 2006 Edward Avern (Wibble) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As the biggest Lord of the Rings fan ever I wasted no time in getting this game as soon as it came out. And I think "fun" is the best way to describe it.This game is by no means flawless. The irritating camera angles, the repetative quality of the fighting and the unbelievably linear nature of this game are all downsides. Some of the voices are excellent but most are not (Legolas sounds nothing like Orlando Bloom), and the graphics are, to say the least, cartoony and sometimes unclear. Despite these problems, however, whenever I go home I generally spend some time playing this game, even though I've completed it twice. I can't think of anything much to say except that it is really good fun - not great, but fun. There is not much in any game that is quite so satisfying as taking down orc after orc with Legolas' bow, or hewing through uruk-hai with Aragorn. I would advise getting this game to any casual gamers or any Lord of the Rings fans. Serious gamers, however, would do better to look for a slightly more open, more serious (and more difficult) game.( :
great game May 28, 2005 black rader (Guatemala City, Gualemala) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
i got this games shortly after i had broken my arm. it was a great dissapointment because i couldn't play (as weel that i can with 2 arms). The great thing about this game is that it's not to hard and all the contols are easy to get to. there are 12 great levels that are challenging but never get boring.for graphics, the game gets a 9.9/10. nothing beats the graphics except they are sometimes unpredictable. once, finishing up the southern gate (the second BEST level in the game) legolas (me) drew his bow and aragorn (turner) walked out of the gate. so for the end movie, legolas had his bow lit up. kinda cool when you have mithril arrows. when it comes to game play, it gets a 10/10. sure, some of the levels are harder than others but they never get boring. i could play for hours on end (not doing very well) and would still have a great time. for the charcters and there abilities, it gets an 8/10. gandalf, legolas, aragorn and farimir are great with there wepons and best of all, they all have good rainging (esspecially legolas and gandalf). however the hobits (merry, pippin, frodo and sam) aren't that great. there sword work isn't that bad but there rainging is awful. and gimli, OMG, he's terrible. his ax is usless and his throwing axes are even more usless. he is slow, small and is hard to control. the overall game play is great and it is the best RPG i have ever played.

lOTR the return of the king is the best LOTR game going. the game was adictive but the graphics were a real let down, on co-op mode on the path of the dead legolas was slower than aragon, in shelobs lair when throwing fire at spiders on the floor they dont catch fire. the hidden charecters were a let down too. but overall the levels put you to the biggest test in the trilogy. the upgrades are fantastic and the combose realy makes the fight come to life. a game wellworth buying.
Lord of the rings: return of another disapointment August 4, 2004 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
Despite the fantastic fmv's and the spectacular theatrical soundtracks. LOTR:return of the king had to be one of the biggest disapointments ever. Forgetting all the good points mentioned before, the gameply is left to be desired as you can expect to go through the whole game button-bashing.Also completing levels can be frustrating with the annoying repitiveness of the levels. Also with the graphics, although owners of ps2 will look in amazement; all xbox gmers will feel as though the game has been half worked on.Even if the film trilogy's were epic expect their game counterparts not to be, infact the complete reverse.
