5 out of 5 stars Fantastic & addictive - hope it works!! TOP value!!   June 21, 2008

There are a lot of game-play genres to draw us in, including the obvious rpg, flying, racing, shooting, strategy & puzzling etc. etc., but this makes a welcome change to the usual gameplay on any console, and shows that Sony can take up where ground-breaking Nintendo started off. Here, the only person to beat or better is yourself (well, your brain, actually). The game isn't limited to a few categories either, what with Locic (sub-categories: sequencer, shape logic, back seat driver), Memory (scene of the crime, musical memory, pinball wizard), Maths (high & low, cruise ship, equation sensation), language (alphabet, spelling bee, picto-rhymes), and concentration (untangle, shape up, combine). The tasks start off relatively easily, but all progress to a level that will challenge everyone... and yes, it is addictive! You can even challenge family & friends in multiplayer, and (as with single player mode) you get to find out the temperature of your brain (in celcius or fahrenheit!) with nice graphics to show your progress over time also. You can take a test to check your brain power generally (going through each of the categories) or choose to practice individual areas that you are weak on. A perfect game to pass the hours with! Ideal for a long journey, or else just sat in comfort at home!
Now, no game is perfect, and this is no exception, though the negatives I point out here are really very minor indeed. Firstly, the background music is very very annoying - luckily though, you can just turn it right down, or as low as you like!! Secondly, and this is a complaint about such games in general, you may find it somewhat annoying that translations are always into American, rather than English, including the accents & general 'vibe' of the scientist character showing you round this game (the repeating intro the other reviewer mentioned). The loading times aren't that bad though, and you can skip the intros. This is only a small annoyane here compared to other games however (witness the AWFUL American accents in Tales Of Eternia - which can only be played on mute!!). I'm sure many of you know what I mean - even American friends agree!! Another small example here is the reference to 'Math' rather than 'Maths', but hey, we can't have it all I guess. Sometimes, too, the 'logic' doesn't seem that locical; though you might know what is meant, on occasion, the next in a sequence just doesn't sem to 'fit', as it were - but this only happens on a few occasions. Overall, a VERY playable, VERY addictive, full-of-fun type of game, and sort-of educational too - oh, and well worth a purchase at such a great price!!

Great game for stimulation of the mind. Only drawback is loading time and repeating intros that you cannot skip. Never gets boring, only addictive.
