2 out of 5 stars Good graphics, the rest is rubbish.   September 18, 2008

This game has got quite good graphics, but the gameplay is crap!. Please dont get this game and waste your money. it is so repetitive that once youve had 3 overs you feel bored. the loading times are about 5 minutes and it literally means that you have to put it down and wait. and no matter how high you put the difficulty setting the opposition will never get better than 100 runs unless you have just started playing. Please dont waste your money, this is a rubbish game!

I have had this game for a few days and it is great. It is probably my favorite PSP games. It is not perfect but would highly reccomend to anyone that loves cricket. The loading times were kind of long but with the new PSP slim loading times are significantly shorter.

4 out of 5 stars A start for the PSP   September 19, 2007

I also think the reviews below have been quite harsh. I have been enjoying playing this game and think its definitely more playable than EA's cricket series. Its easy to learn and pick up and play and those are important attributes for a PSP game. The Pressure Play mode is especially good for learning the game and is fun on its own. Batting in particular is quite easy to learn and when playing a proper game newbies will not get pummelled into the ground as with the EA games. Bowling may be a little on the easy side but it is also easy to get used to the control system for this which is a plus, and in addition you can edit the field settings etc if you so desire.

The main weakness is that it could do with more modes, particularly a test mode and a domestic cricket mode, and some kind of rolling mode where you play over a career would be nice. I'm not so concerned about the lack of commentary as it usually comes round on games anyway, and is usually just annoying after a while. Besides, real cricketers cannot hear the commentators, so why should commentary be in a sim? Loading times are a little slow, but have you ever played a PSP game with fast loading times?

All in all I think this is one of the better cricket games I have played, and most importantly its on the PSP, so I don't have to play MLB 07 (although it is a great game too) anymore to get my fix of bat on ball! Hopefully Codemasters will note the strong sales and release a version with more modes in future.

1 out of 5 stars What a poor effort   September 18, 2007

Has everyone so far failed to see that there are no commentators on this game which i feel brings a very boring appearence to the game. Who wants to just hear the crowd quietly chanting...you want commentators! The graphics are roughly that of a ps1 when the psp is supposed to be almost the same as a ps2. Very few gameplay options, you always have the same pitch in the same sunlight with the same ball and not enough on field controls. There are no variations in the opositions bowling, the best 2 bowl 7 overs each first then they are both changed. Very unrealistic all round. unless you are seriously into cricket DO NOT BUY IT!

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad as others seem to think   September 11, 2007

I think the reviews so far have been harsh. I think this is a very playable game and a perfectly good cricket sim. Its not perfect and there are some aspects which are a bit strange (very easy to bowl sides out for ridiculous scores, no test matches, Dalrymple in the England team) but once you start getting used to it and move up the levels it presents a good challenge, particularly with the batting. And it is possible to hit the ball away from the fielders, at least at County level.

I am thoroughly enjoying playing the game.
