The world of Animal Crossing seems a peculiarly simple one at first: there are no levels to be beaten or bad guys to overcome, just a cheerful little village to maintain, as you water flowers, catch fish and dig for fossils. But before you know it the game has its hooks in you, as you meet friends via the Wi-Fi Network Connection to chat and compete or start playing the turnip stock market. With over 600 different pieces of furniture to collect the game has a near infinite lifetime and by running in real-time with special events all through the year you’ll find yourself checking in daily with what’s going on around town. Trying to describe this game to another person is hard, particularly if you want to get accross how addictive and fun it is! I try with friends, 'you go around catching fish and bugs and making friends, buying stuff and doing favours'. To which the usual reply is why? where does it end? Well.. it doesn't! And that is one of the things that I love!! You can do literally what you want to do, collect what you want without having to be tied to a boring 'mission' whose illusive completion prevents you from progressing in the game!
For those who do like a bit of a challenge there is the paying of the mortgage, but this can be done 'as and when' rather than being a necessity. The game is played in real time so at 11pm in the real world the shop shuts, in winter it snows etc. The landscape changes with the seasons and so too do the objects and animals you can collect!
There is a social aspect to the game too as you can connect to other players through the internet. I tried this out and found it to be a great addition, and a great way to add to your own game. For example, when you start your game your town will have a town fruit, for me it was apples, these are what grow on the trees. Other people have different fruit so if you visit their towns, get a fruit and plant it in your town then tadaa new fruit trees!!
Only downside to the internet connection is you require a 'friends' code and they require yours before you can connect and visit. So, if like me, you have no friends with the game then you will need to find someone, however there are many forums on the internet where you can meet and share codes.
I got this game shortly after getting my DS and I loved it! Playing it all the time, late into the night, just collect a few more apples...

Aside from the excellent collectathon that is the main game, this is fantastic if you plan to play online. It's like a wonderfully glorified chat room. Find the right website and it's easy to find people of your own age to play with - that is, talk to, trade items with, explore one another's towns and houses. It's just great fun, and once you've built up an ample roster of animal crossing: wild world friends you'll soon find yourself playing every evening!

I bought this game about 2 months ago from ebay for 12! i didnt realise what a bargain i was getting. it really is a great game. And when you try and describe it to other people who dont have it it sounds so dull. but it isnt. i never new bug hunting could become so addictive!
I have only just started using wifi with it too and had a bad experience where someone came into my game and ruined it by 'seeding' which was a gutting experience as i had to start from scratch. so i lost all my neighbour friends and everything! but i know what to look out for now and have since had a great time visiting other towns and having visitors over to mine!
i love how the animals are so different to each other too. and when you get attatched to them and they leave it's really sad. although you can usually talk your favourites into staying. also, saturday nights down in the cafe with KK Slider are cool! the way he 'sings' is hilarious but i cant help thinking he looks so much like Alistair Darling!! i love drinking coffee in the cafe too as im a coffee addict in reality.
anyway, this game isnt just for kids, im 24 and love it. i also bought super mario at the same time as this but have only played that once. i play this every day. well i dont want my town going to ruins!

This is my favourite Nintendo DS game. I have 9 games and this was the 7th one I got but it is by far the best! In the game it's starts off with you in Kapp'ns Taxi driving in the pouring rain he asks you what your name is then asks you where you want to go (for that you write the name of what you want to call your town.) (8 characters maximum) Then you arrive and have to do some jobs for Tom Nook the owner of the shop. Then you can catch fish and bugs and donate them to Blathers who is in the Mueseum, or for BIG money some bugs and fish can sell for lots of money. There are 3 different shops that Nook's expand to, the first one which is the one you get at the beginning (Nook's Cranny) is a horrible little shop, but if you buy/sell 25,000 bells it will expand to Nook 'n' Go and then if you buy/sell 50,000 it will expand to Nook Way, then if you buy/sell 240,000 bells you will get Nookingtons (which is the final shop) IMPORTANT NOTE: To get Nookingtons you need to connect with someone else who has Animal Crossing and they have to buy something from Nook Way for you to get Nookington's.
You have to pay off 7 mortgages each time you pay a mortgage off an extra floor or room will be added to your house. IMPORTANT NOTE: Every time you pay off a mortgage the next one you have to pay off is always a higher price. To pay off you mortage go to the Town Hall then to the area where there is a red carpet with a letter on. Talk to Pelly and select the Pay Mortgage Icon.
You can get up to 8 residents in your town, all sorts of different animals.
I hope this guide helped I don't want to say everything because it will be fun for you to work it out yourself it explains what to do in the game anyway.

My sister plays with animal crossing ALL THE TIME. It is really fun- you can fish, catch insects, dig fossils, buy furniture for your house, sell fruit and stuff or just wander around talking to your animal neighbors, each with its own character!! It definetly isn't adventurous, there aren't levels and you never end playing, and even though some people find this boring, I think its good because you can play for months--my sister has been playing for a year--and hardly get bored.
The only negative thing is that it is a little babyish-I don't reccomend it for anyone above, say, 14. But if you want to make a present to a younger child, it is absolutely perfect. Fun is 100% guaranteed!!!
