Amazon.co.uk Preview Sega aren't normally a company you'd associate with movie licenses, although they have just nabbed the rights to make games based on the Aliens movies. This though is a very different type of film, a live action adaptation of the beloved children's book featuring an unlikely friendship between a pig and a spider. Unfortunately the video game is unlikely to remain as timeless as the book, especially since it's taken the slightly perverse route of turning the whole story into a series of platform jumping adventures. Even though pigs aren't exactly known for their gymnastics you take the role of Wilbur as he collects eggs and, oddly, letters for Charlotte the spider. For better or worse, Wilbur does actually handle just as you'd expect a pig too, which means he barely makes even the simplest of jumps, scrabbling cutely to make it onto a ledge.Wilbur's defensive abilities are similarly low tech, with an ineffective kick and a repartee of songs to send enemies running. Obviously the game's limited by the settings of the original book and film but you do get the feeling that this really isn't a story that makes much sense translating into a video game. In the end the best bits are the various mini-games, including a number of special touch screen games on the DS. In between platform levels you can get to pamper Wilbur, as Fern his human owner, in something like a mini version of Nintendogs
but with pigs. There are also several separate mini-games such as parachuting with baby spiders and a fun puzzle game with Templeton the rat. Even so a ticket to see the movie again is probably better value. HARRISON DENT

Charlotte's web ds July 12, 2008 Mrs. Kelly Griffiths (wales) Hey gamers! I am a newbie to the ds... and most other computer technology, so I'm not an expert by any means, but... WOW!!! I love this game! It's not the most difficult game to conquer by any means, but even when the main adventure has been completed there are so many fun mini games to amuse you that it really is difficult to put it down for long. I am 30, and I enjoy it just as much as my 7 year old does... he loves it too. The game as a whole has a certain charm about it and I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to give it a go.
Addictive May 28, 2008 L. Coomber (Surrey, Engalnd) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my 6 year old neice and have to say we fight over who is going to play it, we have both reached 100% and unlocked all the mini games on it. So we start again from the beginning to see how long it takes us to reach the end again. This game is very addictive and have to say the best DS game I have played so far, well worth the money spent for this game. Would recommend this game to anyone
Brilliant game, lots of hours of fun! April 5, 2008 Miss Janie Mesher 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am a 8 year old girl who really liked charlotte's web movie and I was so excited when my mum got it for me. There are 16 fun levels to complete, 12 mini games:(web words, Aeronauts, webbing crashers, food catch, water fun, bale out and more) which unlock once you have collected them on your adventure in the main game. I love this game but the only bad point is that they could have made more levels as I nearly completed the whole game in two days! Once you have completed the levels you can still have fun with the mini games.

I got this game of a friend and thought it would be really dull but it is actually very good! I like the mini games and the adventure is good too I can't put it down. I am currently stuck on level seven though and would be grateful if anyone could give me advice how to get out of it. I am currently stuck up a tree!

This is a fantastic game that is perfect for Nintendo DS. The onscreen instructions are easy to follow, even for an adult like me, so I'm sure the kids will find them a breeze. I am amazed at the clarity of colours (games have come a long way!) and that there are no complicated manoeuvres to perform. There are several mini games and a story board to follow, but these are unlocked as the games are completed. I sat up well into the night attempting to solve the various games, well I have to let the kids know what to do don't I! I'm sure that they will be delighted with it as soon as I have finished the game! I would fully recommend Charlotte's Web to you if you are thinking about purchasing it.
