Really really fun and innovative! July 20, 2008 Mrs. J. Barchi (Kent, UK) Let me just say that this game is absolutley amazing. It has everything a DS player could want; story, strategy, action PLUS the longevity all great DS games need. The combat involves drawing various runes on the bottom screen in order to defeat your oponent. However, it takes a lot of strategy and accuracy to become a good player. Strategy comes into play when you are introduced to the various types of spells you can draw. Some runes have low mana costs and medium damage, but can be blocked with the shield. Others use more mana, but cannot be blocked. Curses (some of the most powerful spells) can be blocked easily, so the player has to combine it with barrier-breaking spells in order for it to hit the opponent. It all sounds very complicated on paper, but the game introduces these tactical elements gradually and makes it easy to understand. It also gives you guides to help you time your runes perfectly in a combo. The only gripe I have with the game is the difficulty of the AI. It is VERY tricky towards the end and I found myself getting quite frustrated. Also, Wifi would have been REALLY good. It just seems the perfect game for wifi, considering how combat-orientated it is. Maybe a second game will be made with this, depending on it's success. So come on! If you think you can handle it, buy this game! Will [14]
One of the best and most original titles on NDS. July 11, 2008 Enrique Vte Corts Llopis 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Doodle Hex is not a puzzle, it's not a rpg, it's not a strategy game, but it's got a bit of all these genres and it works really well. It's a stylus-only game where you draw spell runes to defeat your enemies. Each character has its own rune set and each runes has a different effect on yourself and the enemies. Very fun and deep game that people of all ages will love to bits, and the multiplayer is one of the most fun experiences you can have on a Nintendo DS. Highly recommended!
