Very well made November 26, 2008 Ms. R. Graham (Newcastle) This educational game had the potential to be so grindingly awful that I was quite worried when waiting for it to be delivered. I was not dissappointed though. I am going to Spain for a month to take a course in beginners Spanish and thought that I'd get this to help me out. I reckon it has definatley helped me out with the basics and together with books and lessons, it is a great tool. I wouldn't use it soley for a full comprehensive way of learning Spanish, unless you only want a few phrases for holiday but I would recommend it to GCSE students. The game includes a dictionary, verb tables and full phrases, which you are likely to use on holiday for example. It is easy to navigate your way around the game and is easily understandable. One of the most useful features is the fact that you can record your voice saying things then listen back or play it together with the voice on the DS to see if you are pronouncing them correctly. All in all a handy little game which I shall be bringing to spain! Oh and by the way, if you buy this and want to progress to the level 2 game... DON'T! My boyfriend bought it as he has a higher level of Spanish than me and thought it was rubbish with many of the great features inexplicably excluded in the game, he found the level 1 game much more helpful. Adios!
Very good, but too fast! October 16, 2008 N. Robson (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've just bought this game and very impressed with the fact that when you start the game for the first time, it tests you on your knowledge, that way you don't have to waste time on words you might already know. That said, I opted to start at the very beginning as I didn't want to miss anything. Since starting, Ive found it relatively addictive. I agree with one of the other reviews, when they said that it tends to just teach you words as opposed to sentences, but then I bought it to extend my vocabulary, which it is already doing. I also bought this from Amazon, but have been sent the version with the Spanish flag (not Mexican). The only negative point is that she speaks so quickly! I've gone into the setting to slow down her voice, but this only takes the speed she says the word down by a second. It doesn't make it clear how some letters should be pronounced (e.g. V as B, J as H). It is much better if you use earphones as you will notice some of these pronounciations better. What would be really useful is if there was the function to break each word down, so you could repeat, and speed it up yourself. All in all, I am happy with my purchase. I will definitely play it until the end, and then buy the next level.
Great Fun and Very Educational! September 1, 2008 C. McQueen (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this product to help me learn some basic spanish as I was childminding Spanish Children over the summer. Unlike most Language courses available for self teaching this did not focus on basic holiday phrases like getting to and from the airport. I really liked this aspect as I was not going on holiday! The games are simple and fun and really help in learning the basic words! Another aspect which is really great is the fact that you cant advance a level without being good at the current level. I like this as it stops me from being lazy and skipping hard bits! The only critisism I have about this game is the start of it. The software tests your spanish to begin with to assess which level you should be starting at. I did really well at this and as such was started at Level 5. I found this to affect me as it assumes you know your colours, numbers etc....So I had to create a new file and get the inital test all wrong to learn the basics!! Other than that I am so happy with this product and find it to be very fun, and very easy to use and very educational!!

Hi guys, just a word of warning. I ordered this game - however when it arrived I was sent the Mexican Spanish version (meant for American markets I presume) and not the European version that was advertised on Amazon. There are significant differences in the vocabulary used in each language so watch out!!! You can tell the difference very easily - on the front cover of the one I receieved there is a mexican flag inside the glasses pictured. On the European version there is a Spanish flag. Other than this the game is really great for people with no Spanish at all - it's great fun.
Great game July 10, 2008 Ms. H. Davis (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I brought this game to help me learn Spanish, I pretty much new nothing to start with. I no have a good vocab of Spanish words, I just wish It taught me a little more on building sentences. There are great sub games on here to help you learn and being able to compare myself saying the words against the coach is really helpful. There is also the bonus of having a dictionary and phrases that you can look up. This is a great game and worth every penny.
