Amazon.co.uk Review In a nutshell: A next generation game of Ping Pong doesn't necessarily sound like the best use of your Xbox 360's abilities - no matter how good the graphics are. Just a few quick plays though will turn apathy into addiction. The lowdown: You might come for the budget price but you'll stay for the gameplay in what must be the most engrossing new sports game in years. Although the realism is probably going to be beside the point for most people this looks and plays exactly like the real thing. That means the controls basically work like a normal tennis sim, with four basic shot types on the face buttons and some easy to apply aftertouch available on the left stick. You can mix and match shots by holding down multiple buttons and there's a handy warning rumble when you starting getting your returns too near the edge of the table. Although the presentation is a little dry, especially for a Rockstar game, sports games don't get much more fun than this. Most exciting moment: Although it's a shame there's no doubles matches the game is still at its best online in multiplayer mode. If you don't have Xbox Live though you'll find the computer players are very realistic, with their own quirks and specialities that make them seem far more like real people. Since you ask: The game features seven extra playable characters to unlock by beating the single player tournaments. The nationalities of these players are Brazilian, Irish, German, South Korean, Japanese, English and Egyptian. The bottom line: It may sound an odd idea but this could be the most addictive game yet for the 360. Harrison Dent

Quick Overview December 12, 2007 J. Simpson (Newcastle, North East, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this game due to the fact it looked good and was incredibly cheap. the game itself is easy to get to grips with, you can understand the basics after only about ten minutes of play, once you have those it is pure experimentational play which improves your game. i am a table tennis fan, however, even my sister loves the game too ( for both sexes: thumbs up). you can unlock new arenas, characters and clothes ( oooh the joy) but overall this is such an amazing game to play. the graphics are top notch and so is the RAGE engine's capabilities. it looks amazingly realistic and caters for hours of fun. A must buy for anyone looking to have a little fun on their own or with their pals. Great Game!!

Value for money February 11, 2007 Nawm (Twickenham) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
For the price it's great. The details put into the characters are excellent but it's let down by some bad controls. As a "pick up and play" game it's great, but it quickly becomes frustrating in one player mode. Stricly for after the pub with mates.
A very good addition to your collection January 27, 2007 D. A. Peacock (St. Albans UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
For the price, this is a great game. It could be sold for much more. With Xbox games generally being around three times the price this one really is a must. The graphics are stunning and the game play seems natural and it is easy to pick up. I didn't think a game simulating table tennis would excite me as much as this does, it drives me crazy when I don't win. Highly addictive and bags of fun. Having said that it does lack options and variations when playing on your own. Two players - excellent, one - a tad repetitive.
Good fun! January 23, 2007 R. McCardle (Kent, UK) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Yeah yeah, it's ping-pong. A bit of a waste of the 360's power, I know, but it's mad fun! I found it a bit frustrating at first - for some reason I couldn't get the hang of it - but perservered for a few minutes and when it finally clicked I could see what the fuss was about. It's very satisfying to win a hard-fought rally, and the control that the different shots give you is brilliant. The graphics are very detailed and it looked brilliant on my standard telly. The down-side is that there's a very limited choice of characters and bonus features, but for 15 quid you couldn't do better.
