4 out of 5 stars Actually quite good   July 31, 2008

A lot better than you might think. Quite a lot to do and lasts longer than you might think but don't expect this to be Grand Theft Naruto. The areas are very linear and it does have it's bugs and glitches.
In my case every time I hit a trap or environmental hazard it would crash my 360. I don't know if this is my 360 or the game but it only happens with this game and it gets really annoying but still I play because it is a rather good game.

Ok if you want really easy gamer points then this can get you probably 800+ in a couple of days. This game basically plays itself and you can complete more or less all missions first try...and the boss battles...xD what a joke. The bosses murder you the first time but after you use up all your memory clips and die again then you can play the battle again but with all your memory clips again!!!! I mean how easy can it get!!!! Besides most of the bosses are just idiots and you can just repeat 3/4 combos over and over agen (cos they just keep gettin up and walking towards you). Doing the hidden forest exams for all the other characters is also rely easy. its just the same as doing it with naruto but with a little more variation in jutsus... Gamewise you should just stick tothe anime.

I hate anime/manga/whatever. I can't stand that little tosser Naruto with his kiddy-wink arrogance - but I love this game. A previous reviewer states that you don't need the skills Naruto learns during the course of the game. In fact you cannot get to certain missions without being able to run up trees, and you cannot complete the mini-games without utilizing your various jutsu skills (although they are not essential during fights, I admit). The playing area is not as big as Spiderman 2 etc but it is more attractive and more varied and I consider this to be of greater importance (mile after mile of skyscrapers does not make for an interesting, free-roam experience in my view). My only slight quibble is that all of the fights are a good deal easier than the later mini-games (my five year old can take out Bandit Chiefs with ease) and the difficulty could have been better balanced.

2 out of 5 stars stick to the anime   December 26, 2007

finally a game which lets you go on the adventures i had seen in the anime. or so i thought...

all you end up doing is the grunt work. run here, go there, fight this bandit (etc, etc) all of the best bits from the anime are just played out in cutscenes which just made me think "i might as well just go watch the anime again"

some of the other activities you do on this game are just mind numbing. thorughout this adventure you will have to do things like deliver ramen, go looking for plants and kill endless amounts of bandits. i promise you, none of it is fun.

and don't get me started on how bad the fighting parts of the game are.

i'll sum this game up . a poor adventure game, mixed with an average and frustrating beat em up. i'm only giving it 2 stars because it gives you the option for the japanese voices instead of the awful english dubbing so at least there's some attention to detail and giving fans what they want.

anyone looking for a beat em up should pick up virtua fighter instead. anyone looking for an adventure game should pick up mario galaxy. anyone looking for a naruto game will have to wait yet again for someone to do something decent with the license
