impossible and broken untill you change your settings September 24, 2008 Virtual Ron OK. i have spent some time with this game now and I have gone from thinking it was broken and unbalanced to thinking it is the most fun driving game ever made, and I have played them all. first things you have to do though are listed below people who havent done these will find the game difficult and frustrating and may be the reason for some of the bad reviews. 1. set your controller sensitivity to LOW in your xbox profile and reboot the game. (the in game menues have no setting options for sensitivity and depend on your profile setting which is usually set to high by most. if so your streering will be too sharp and you will be sliding all over the place thinking wtf 2. set your transmission to manual and learn to change the gears. (the automatic changing is on by default, but the auto changes are too slow and badly selected to give you decent acceleration against the ai oponents. if you dont you will be left behind even starting and def at conering and you will never win a race. corner with 3/4 and stay on 5 unless you are on a long straight, this gives you more power in the dirt. 3. consider getting the xbox steering wheel (microsoft one) as this game is one of the few that really requires the use of a wheel for acurate lines. once you have done all three revel in what is the most exhilariting virtual driving experience available at the moment.
Will collect dust April 24, 2008 Mr. D. L. Thomas (UK Wales) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
As other reviewers have said, its not very good! The menus are too basic and long winded. Car handling is absolutely terrible. Its like the wheels are turning on the back instead of the front. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of steering, so your pretty much stuck with it. I haven't tried Colin Mcrae, but Sega Rally is proabably not going back in my machine!
Not as good as the classic arcade we remember March 12, 2008 Mr. M. D. Mcgivern As the title says this game is a big let down, my first go and feeling how the cars handle was so dissapointing its sad. The cars are permanently sideways and feel so fake, the car is pretty much flat out round all corners without the need to brake much, the environment engine which states no two laps are the same is poor aswell because its generally "some" racing line that just appears as groves in the road and doesnt affect the game too much. The graphics I have to say are good and the sound is above par, these are the only reason I don't rate this game 1!!!!
Life in the old dog February 20, 2008 K. Mason (in my living room) If you are after a realistic racer, or are a motorsport fan then this isn't the game for you. I would describe this as an arcade racer taylor made for the console market (with unlockables etc) rather than a game like PGR or Forzza which is more in depth car wise, Sega rally has an instant pick up and play air about it though that neither of those two do. I originally got it upon release and am still playing it and enjoying it a couple of months down the line. The tracks and backgrounds look great (again not realistic tracks) I don't like any of the modern racing games abd no longer have any in my collection other than this, so if like me you enjoyed the original sega racers or arcade racers. Then with its cheap price you can't really go wrong here Online leaderboards also add to the longevity as it means once your done with the career mode you will always have a challenge there.
Could be better January 10, 2008 R. Spencer Having been a fan of this game on older formats, I bought this game mainly because I wanted a no thrills racing game you can just turn on play. I have to agree with some of the others here, that the steering feels like you're skating around on ice all the time. I've never been a big fan of using the thumbstick controls to steer, as they seem to be over-sensitive - certainly with this game. A slight turn to the left or right & the car wants to turn 90 degrees ! You alway feel in constant battle with the car, even keeping it on a straight road. The Quick Race option is difficult, as the 6 cars you race against are long gone after the first corner of the track, even though you have done nothing wrong ? It's as if your car is in a entirely different class, and you spend most of the race playing catch up. Overall an average game.
