Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is the first game built around the legendary music of America's greatest rock `n' roll band: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. Fans will experience Aerosmith's GRAMMY award winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty, in a way that no other entertainment vehicle offers. As players progress through the game, they can rock out to the band's greatest hits, as well as songs from other celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band's rise to fame.

KEY FEATURES:

Let the music do the talking - The collaboration offers consumers an unprecedented level of access to Aerosmith's music catalogue and an unbeatable soundtrack, with every Aerosmith song being a master recording. Each set includes chart-topping hits from renowned artists that the band has either performed with, or has been inspired by.

Rock this way, talk this way - Relive rock `n' roll history and witness all five members of Aerosmith in all their glory. Motion capture sessions with each member of the band - including extensive facial motion capture featuring Steven Tyler's lip movements to every song - further deepens the experience. Additionally, multiple memorable outfits capture the band's rise to rock royalty, enabling players to feel like they're really experiencing those historic performances.

It started with a little kiss, like this - Completely redesigned venues featuring locations from historical moments in the band's career offers fans the opportunity to live the Aerosmith life. Starting with their first-ever concert at Nipmuc High School players ascend to the pinnacle of rock stardom.

Bass in the place - Enjoy the ultimate party experience in the Co-op quickplay game mode and shred as Joe Perry, Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton or select your favourite fictional Guitar Hero.

1 out of 5 stars Hardcore Aerosmith Fans ONLY   September 29, 2008
Mr Craig Farmer
I was first introduced to Guitar hero only recently with Guitar Hero 3 - Legends of Rock and immediately fell in love with it. GH is one of the best and original franchises out there in my opinion.

So I bought GH Aerosmith with high hopes and was severely let down. I read previously that you should only buy this game if youre a big fan of aerosmith. I ignored this advice thinking that 25 (ebay) was cheap for the amout of tracks on the game. The thing is you HAVE to be a huge Aerosmith fan to enjoy this game as only two of these tracks could possibly stand a chance getting on a proper GH game as theyre just simply not good enough. All the GH tracks on GH3 are hand-picked especially for their compatability with the nature of the game. Every record company wants their songs on the franchise as track sales on itunes for example always rocket after the release of a game such as Guitar Hero. This alone means they can choose almost any songs they want, hence the great line up on GH. Seriously though, only 'Dream Police' by Cheap Trick and Aerosmiths 'Dream On' warrant a few play-throughs and the latter is available for download on GH3 anyways (and for a period was free).

The problem is that GH has chosen songs involving you in the chorus and the main tune, so you get the feeling that your actually playing the song which obviously is very satisfying. In GHA however, you play as Joe Perry, who loves to go off onto his famous crazy riffs and you often find yourself button bashing loads of notes coming your way, that have no correlation with the tune of the song atall. The difficulty is also greatly reduced which I thought would be good as I often struggled with the GH3 career on expert, but it just means that your tempted to choose a harder difficulty and miss half the notes with no penalty, completely taking away the romance of going into practice mode to master some of the harder tracks.

I played the game through on hard (mostly to get the achievements to be honest) and felt on the whole completely let down.
Seriously, ONLY buy this if you are a DIE HARD Aerosmith fan or you will feel cheated by what could have been a great way to branch out the series. I already have my copy back on ebay.

If you have bought this as your first GH game, dont let it ruin your perception of the series as this game is definately the black sheep. I can say for sure that if this was to be the first game in the GH series, it would never have grown to be the phenomenon and billion dollar game that it now is. I would far rather spend the money on buying more tracks for GH3 on xbox live. GHA is like a crappy cheap spin off from a succesful franchise that will only sell because of the succes of the originals (and idiots like me who thought that Aerosmiths title of 'the greatest rock band of all time' was in the slightest bit fair) but you can be sure that it will sell, but be in your local blockbusters bargain bin by christmas. GHA is to GH3 what 'Joey' is to 'Friends'

Verdict: One of the worst games I have EVER played (and ive played a lot)

Hope this helps

5 out of 5 stars A lot better on next gen consoles   July 3, 2008

I think this game is really good and i am not a big fan of Aerosmith. The good thing about having it on a next gen console especially xbox 360 is that the graphics are miles better than they are on the non-HD resolution consoles. Also on xbox 360 you can go onto the marketplace and buy new songs. Overall i think this is one of my favourite games and is a good filler inbetween gh3 and gh world tour.

2 out of 5 stars Ok, where's the rest of it ?   July 2, 2008

If you have gh3 dont bother buying this game unless you are a hardcore aerosmith fan because you will be dissapointed.. There are only five sets to play adding up to 31 songs and a few more to unlock as you play the game. Which doesnt add up to a lot of playing time compared to the last gh game (8 or 9 sets i think with plenty to download). With few of those songs bieng the hits you would expect.. dude looks like a lady? Crazy? Cryin? Janies got a gun? I dont want to miss a thing? Jaded??? All NOT in the game as you would expect bieng some of their biggest hits.
The motion captured performances of the band are the high point of the game for me, but its not enough to justify its price tag.
This for me is a cash in game, anybody who is good enough to play on normal or better will complete it within a few hours. Rent dont buy.

3 out of 5 stars Where are all the songs??   July 2, 2008
me
For die hard aerosmith fans, watch out. Though you may love the game and the band be warned that there are only 25 Aerosmith songs on the game ( 24 if your count the fact that "Walk This Way" is on twice - once with Run D MC, and once just Aerosmtih). Classics such as "Dude Looks Like a Lady", "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees), "The Other Side" are not on there.

Would it have been that hard to at least have included the 21 top 40 hits Aerosmtih had in the American charts? Perhaps that would have been a better way to document Aerosmith's journey to rock gods.
