Brilliant! August 17, 2007 Ms. Monique Philpott (Tibenham, Norfolk) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this game after playing the first one on PC. Take the reins is a vast improvement, and is really exciting. I thought it was great that you travel all over the world, and being able to hack out is a great feature. I thought the locations were well designed and exciting to explore, and i would highly recommend it. However, i'm disappointed to say that i did have difficulties at times with running the game. I had similar problems to other reviewers, like the horse not moving. And when you have to improve every day at the riding school, it is so annoying when you are forced to through a day away because your horse wouldnt move. I also had problems when i was training; for instance, i refused at a jump and then found myself outside the ring, not able to get back in with the timer still going! But, despite these faults, they dont stop you from finishing the game succesfully; i did and it all ended happily. And the great points in the game far outway the little blips. I recommend buying this game, and if your horse wont move, just give up. And if you want advice, i know from experience that taking your horse for a walk is a bad idea if your game is one of the weird ones, and just stick to horse care, and avoid the rest room if you can, because sometimes the people dont talk and you get stuck: but honestly, it sounds like a lot of faults, but this game is worth the buy, and the tiny mistakes arent the end of the world. Hope you like it!
errors April 10, 2007 J. Pettinger (england) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
i have enjoyed all of the games so far, and they have good gameplay and story lines. However is it just me or do nearly all the games have some kind of error or bug in parts of them?
Take the Reins - PF2 February 15, 2007 Victoria Clark (Wiltshire) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game was a vast improvement on the first PF game. The levels are quite difficult as you progress but the adventure side line games are fun but never that difficult to master. Keep practising. The last competition in Scotland was quite hard for me but I kept at it and eventually managed to get through to the final competition. I am looking forward to the next game PF3 and also Lucinda Green's "Equestrian Challenge" which is due out on 2nd May this year - just in time for all fans who look forward to going to Badminton Horse Trials. From the screenshots I have seen on the website I found, it looks really true to life! Cannot wait!
Good...But It Stopped Working! November 16, 2006 L. A. Court (Hampshire, England) 12 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this game on Thursday November 9th 2006. I had played all week until yesterday.(15th november) I was on a level where you have to race a man in morocco and You have to press the square button to make the horse move. No matter how many times i did this the horse just wouldn't move. I tried out this button on a different game and it worked perfectly. I am taking the game back and buying the game for PC instead. I had almost completed it as well. So don't buy this version as it will glitch and stop working.
