Highly addictive realistic tennis game sim April 8, 2008 steven (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is as good as it gets if you're a tennis fan. Or if you have a any interest in the game! It's so much fun! I got this game yesterday and played it for hours - I couldn't put it down. First of all the players look amazingly lifelike. Daniel Handtuchova practically looks real! It was obviously marketed to fanboys and girls alike (For the guys we have Sharapova, Hingis, Hantuchova and Vadisova plus others) For the girls we have Nadal, Federer, Roddick ect...) You can play exhibition matches around the world and the announcer's voice will be in the local language (15 love ect...) You can enter a tournement, create a player and take on the world (train, rest, buy gear, get a coach ect...)or play doubles or against a friend. I had so much fun playing against Sharapova as Handtuchova yesterday in tournament mode. You can unlock things like new stadiums as you progress through the game. Highly recommended - the graphics are superb.

best tennis game i've ever played February 29, 2008 tqfan (scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
i've played a few tennis games over the years and was always frustrated by the lack of control your player had, leading to not beating the cpu much. with this game, i'm totally blown away. the graphics are amazing, even on a normal tv. the players actually look like who they are meant to be, and they have the players characteristics, too, federer standing shaking his head when he loses a point, nadal motioning to his face, for a towel, and so on. you can play both as male or female, although i've so far only played as male, even though i'm female! the gameplay is so good, i can actually return a serve, and i can beat the cpu. you get the chance to start your career, bottom of the rankings and build your way up, you have to train on all parts of your game, serves, volleys, footwork, etc, by way of mini games which are quite fun. if you train too hard, you can get injured, my poor player broke his leg! with these additional features, it's such an in depth game, i've not played any like it before, although i'm not sure if these features are part of other tennis games, they're not on the ones i've played. the more you advance in your career, the more options become available to you, new clothes, racquets, tournaments, both singles and doubles, so there's always something to strive for. i'm not sure why a review here compares this game to the xbox version, that's pointless, not everyone will have both an xbox and ps3, and this is a review of the ps3 version, not the xbox version, so why compare? very poor reviewer in my opinion. not everyone has capabilities to play games online and if that's what you are looking for, why bother actually buying a game that doesn't offer that, and then complain afterwards? it's your own fault for not reading the specifications! i'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who has a PS3, it's a must have game. i'd even recommend it to anyone who has been let down by tennis games in the past.

Virtua Tennis 3 January 12, 2008 Jonathan Shread (Surrey, UK) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Having been a fan of the Top Spin series, I was interested to find out how the Virtua Tennis series compared. I was a little disappointed. The graphics are good, but not great. The mini-games are fairly amusing, but not addictive. Career mode is boring, because as a beginner there are very little tournaments to enter. Tournament mode is very unrealistic, and half of the time every time you take a shot you have to dive for it. This is not the greatest game, but it's not the worst. If your a big tennis fan, then is the game for you. But for me - 3/5.
