Warhawk Review September 20, 2008 AaronNick! Let's start on what Warhawk is about, Warhawk is a crazy 3rd person shoot em up, in which you can take out your enemy in 3 styles, troop, vehicle and air. As a troop there are 10 different weapons too choose from to take out your enemy each with its own different ability, my personal favourite would be the Binoculars because there a good tactical weapon too use. Next is vehicles, there are 3 different types of vehicles, jeep, tank and new addition APC (armoured personal carrier). With the jeep you can carry 3 people, 1 person drives, 1 rides and 1 sits in the turret. With the jeep there are good points and bad points, good points are that it's the fastest vehicle too use, but the bad point is its not armoured so its easy to get taken out in it. Next is the tank, this armoured piece of machinery can carry 2 people, 1 driving and using the barrel gun and one riding in the top hatch. Good points for the tank would be its armoured so it's a little harder to take out and the 2nd person can fire out of it with any weapon of there choice. Bad point is that it's rather slow so you're not going to get away with the flag so easily. Lastly the APC, this can carry a massive 7 people!, 1 driving and 6 sitting inside. Good points for the APC are it has its own shield in which you deploy and lasts roughly 45 seconds, this shield can protect you from anything, you can shoot out and the enemies can't shoot in unless they walk inside the shield. 2nd good point is that it has a boost ability in which you double tap R2 and you boost across the map. 3rd good point is that the 6 people sitting inside can all pop there heads out the top and all use there troop weapons too cause some real damage. Last good point is that you can respawn inside the APC anywhere in the map with a random troop weapon, very tactical if you use it right. Bad points about the APC is that the shield can be taken down if a player gets ether a well placed TOW missile through the top of the shield or a well charged electric shot onto the shield. Now onto air, there are 2 types of vehicles for the air, the standard Warhawk/Nemesis (planes), or the most recent addition too Warhawk the jetpack. The Warhawk is almost like a troop in a way it can hold 8 weapons but the plus side is that you can now fly as it's a plane. Good points for the plane would be you can get out of danger fast with the boost function just like the APC. Bad point is that it's very easy to take down a Warhawk and lock onto with a rocket launcher/anti air gun. The jetpack is by far my favourite air combat vehicle. Good points about it are that you can also boost like the Warhawk but it comes with its own little twist when you boost little chaff shards come out and that is how you dodge a missile when locked on. You can get into a Warhawk and get out just like an ejectors seat if the need comes to get out, you can use any troop weapon besides the binoculars which is a real shame and you can carry the flag/core with the jetpack. Bad points with the jetpack are that its kind of easy to take someone out in the jetpack, ether a planes main MG gun can do the trick, rocket launcher if no boost is left and the artillery gun can take a jet packer out really fast. The jetpack isn't as fast as a Warhawk it's a little slow, about as fast as a tank. So ends my review, if you enjoy games such as this id advise getting it, not many shops sell it anymore so download it off the Playstation network, its 20 and the booster packs are 4 each or 8 for the 3 together. I've had Warhawk for over a year and I still addicted too it I give this game 9/10 a brilliant, tactical, team building game. AaronNick!
WarHawk rules the skies of online play! August 20, 2008 S. James (ENGLAND) Now before I start I would like to say that warhawk experienced many teething problems, but they have all been sorted.
Warhawk is possibly the best experience you can have with your ps3 online.
The game plays out very similar to Star Wars Battlefront, with two teams fighting over a series of maps and modes.
Game modes include:
Deathmatch-You all know what that is Team Deathmatch- Ditto Capture the flag- Self explanitory Dogfight- Teams or solo fight only in the air Zones- bases are captured and the "Zone" grows Hero- One person on each team is the Hero, gets super damage etc I apologise for forgetting the name of the last one, but its similar to capture the flag!
Games are still more than plentiful even though it is practically a year old...Although a warning; at first you will get totally pwned, everyone is pretty much a pro now...
Character customisation is vast in this game, you have two characters, one Chernovan, one Eucadian...(think Imperials and Rebels off Star Wars) and both are highly customisable, you unlock more things as you rank up...
You also have two "warhawks" one for eucadian and chernovan classes...both are the same power wise, just cosmetically different. These can boh have loads of different customised paint jobs, many made by the Warhawk community...
There are Two expansion packa]s released for the game so far, with a third on the way, the first features a night-time map, and a DROPSHIP (which hovers on energy balls, very matrix) the second featuring a sort of clone trooper tank from Star Wars, carrying soldiers around, it has a huge orb shield that surrounds it when deployed.
The third expansion pack yet to be released will (after many rumours) include a JETPACK, this made loads of 'Hawkers wet themselves...
on the 27th of August 08, warhawk will have an update (free) which will include,
56 trophies (YES! if you don't know what trophies are, this won't excite you) Custom Soundtracks through the XMB a few things fixed too.
This really is THE game to show xbox fans that moan about our online, its flawless, possibly the only game to have stable online play since Resistance.
Oh yeah, for all the n00bs buying this game abit late, there will also be an offline tutorial teaching you a few tips and tricks of WarHawk to help you get into the swing of thinks, three tutorials for three game strategies, Infantry, Vehicular, AIr combat.
A trophy will be earned upon completion of each tutorial.
Even at this late stage, the developers are still supporting their game, hats off to them...
I'm off to play it,
Who's in?
10/10
Online as good as it gets July 29, 2008 Doctor Worm (Portugal) I'm not here to tell you how good Warhawk is. Just look at my ratings for this game and you'll understand how I feel about it. I think it's far more important to let you know how and why I learn to love it. Warhawk was one of the first games I bought for the PS3 almost one year ago. By that time, I wanted a headset and, since I enjoy air-fighting games (AC anyone?) I thought it was a good idea to get the pack. The first time I played it, just like, let's say, 99.9% of Warhawk noobs, I died one hundred times in the first five minutes - ok, I'm exaggerating a bit, just a bit since I died a lot! Sometimes I could not understand how I died and other times I could not even be alive for 5 seconds. After several tries, although I thought the game was nice, I also found it too frustrating and, since I had other games to play, I put it on my shelf to rest. After a couple of months, a friend of mine that was looking for a headset asked me about a good online game. I told him about Warhawk and my feelings about it. But he didn't get scared and bought it. So I was sucked into the game again because of him. And, I'm glad I did. With time, I could understand how great the game is. It's not the visuals, it's not the sound, it's not the gameplay and it is not the variety. It's everything entangled and how it makes you feel. This is not a war simulator, but you can feel like you are in the middle of the most intensive battle (let's say, a cartoonish epic battle). Bullets buzz around, planes fly by, missiles roar through the skies, explosions everywhere. It's a fast paced gameplay raised to the power of two. Warhawk needs time to be enjoyed since it has one of the steepest learning curves I have ever experienced in a game. It has a lot to learn - maps, vehicles, weapons, pickups, good hiding points, base capturing, strategies, combat techniques, game modes and many, many more. You can play it as you whish, by air on planes, with jeeps, with tanks, with anti-air turrets, by foot, sneaking or jumping in the middle of a group of enemies. You can always try different and strange things. Is up to you. It's a sandbox made on a war zone. Play with a friend or with friends and help each other. Learn how to play as a team. If you get frustrated for dying too much, don't be. Everybody dies a lot and every time you die you learn something. I still die a lot, I still curse a lot, I still sweat a lot but by the end of the game, I just want to start another one. I have played really good online games such as Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise or Grand Theft Auto IV, but if you want me to name my favourite one, that would be Warhawk.
A Fantastic Game July 21, 2008 D. Evans I first got introduced to Warhawk by my cousin who brought it not long after the game was first released. We would often play it whenever I'd visit and it was difficult to get used to the controls at first, but when that barrier was crossed, it quickly became one of the most fun games I've ever played. The game could be described as the Playsation 3's 'Halo'. There is no single-player option, as the game is entirely multiplayer, with options for LAN or internet. The action takes place on futuristic battle-fields over several different terrains, from desert bases, to ruined cities and scattered islands. There is no story or plot to speak of, but you are given a choice of being a Eucadian (basically the good guys- they dress as World War 2 infantry) or Chernovan (the baddies - they dress like stormtroopers in samurai helmets). It makes no difference which side you play, the only differences between them are their appearance - which you can modify yourself. In order to fight you are given a plethora of weapons and vehicles. You start out with 2 greandes, a pistol and a knife, and you must go out to find the other weapons yourself. These weapons include machine guns, sniper rifles, flamethrowers, proximity mines, and binoculars for artillery strikes among other things. You are also given control of tanks, jeeps with mounted guns, and the Warhawk of the title, which is basically a futuristic fighter plane with dozens of weapons for you to rain death from the skies. The expansion packs (which can be downloaded from the internet) give you access to even more vehicles, tools, weapons and maps. There are a number of different game types, from free for all deathmatches, to team based play, capture the flag and air battles. These are all fast paced and exciting, and they are especially a lot of fun when you are playing with friends. Performing certain tasks in ranked games means that you can win awards and be promoted, which allows you to access more options from the game. Warhawk is one of my favourite multiplayer games. I have played Call of Duty 4, GTA IV and a few others on multiplayer and although they are all highly enjoyable, I always find myself coming back to play Warhawk, even a year after its release. It's fast paced, frenetic action that's often challenging and a lot of fun. Not every game you play is spectacular but it is those that are that keep bringing you back to it. This one was designed to be played with your friends. Truly Excellent! NOTE: The Jabra headset is a good quality product. It can be recharged by plugging it into the mains. I found the ear piece too be big for my ear, but other than that it works fine. It can also be used for other multiplayer games.
if you like starwars battlefront 2 then get this May 18, 2008 L. Pendlebury 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this game half for the headset(which is very good) and half for the game, this is very similar to starwars battlefront 2 and is a lot better. If you liked sw bf 2 then get this.
