Best Game Ever (And I've played hundreds) July 12, 2008 M. A. O'mahoney (Middlesex, England) This game is simply the best game I have ever played and will probably ever play. I have never had a favourite game that I owned until this one. There were a few favourites as everyone has (GTA 4, COD 4 etc) but this is simply the best. The Environment that you play in is the most beautifully, breathtaking environment that you will see and it is HUGE. The gameplay is the best I've ever known and after over 300 hours (estimated although it's probably longer!) I'm still playing. I only recently completed the quest but I still have not seen the whole game environment or been inside all the caves, forts, etc that are all over the place. I'm pretty sure I haven't found them all yet aswell!!!! This game will take over a large part of your life once you play for the first time. It really will. Everything becomes secondary. Even my wife preferred watching me play this for the evening than watching SKY TV. Trust me everyone when I say that is probably the biggest compliment I can give to any game. Normally it was when are you finshing up. Now it's when are you playing!! Sorry I got to go now and play again. I'm suffering withdrawel symptoms while writing this. Must try and get my character to level 34.
Brilliant! June 17, 2008 Laura Mclean (Edinburgh, Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Be warned first!! Don't become a vampire!! It first of all sucks because you can no longer be in sunlight so say goodbye to open shops! And theres a bug which doesn't let you complete the quest to cure yourself which means your pretty much stuck, I lost ALOT of gameplay because of that!! But the game (other than that) is fantastic, I could easily say it's the best game I have ever played. There is just so much to it that you will end up losing sleep over. Go on buy it you know you want to!!
A really good game but has two faults March 30, 2008 Nic 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I bought oblivion it was very good to begin with but after a while I have come across two faults in the game. The worse one as many have already pointed out is the fact that you can't be cured from vampirism, it is extremely annoying - I can never wait or sleep without being prevented from going out in daylight! Another glitch I uncovered was after I had completed the nights of the nine quest an animation fault occured. This meant when I tried to sit down my character would be paralysed for about a minute unable to move, and when he tried to feed as a vampire the character just stood by the bed looking at the person until a message appeared saying that I had successfully fed!?! On the whole the game is good though as you are allowed to do whatever you want and there are many quests to complete. It is a pity though about the game's bugs.
WARNING this game has a fatal flaw..... March 28, 2008 aerosol_grey 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
OK the game is good but should you ever be turned into a vampire (a quite likely event) the quest for the cure has a bug that means it can NEVER be completed. I've written to Bethesda over this and they replied that there will be NO MORE UPDATES for the game. In other words once they have got your money they don't care anymore. Being a vampire places a set of restriction on a character that many people find limiting, or just so plain annoying that they give up. Like never being classified as a good character, never going out in the daylight, having to find people to feed on, etc. I would advise you to save your money for a game by a company who takes pride in their work and not support companies who refuse to support you...
Oblivion GOTY vampire glitch March 13, 2008 Stephen L. Collinson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would give this awesome game 5 stars except as mentioned by other reviewers the vampire glitch is so annoying. I emailed Bethesda who told me that there is not a patch planned and I would I have to start a new game and avoid the vampire quest. Disappointed with this response I researched and found out by using the original Oblivion disc you can complete the vampire quest. I rented the original and fixed my game today! Of course we should not have to do this but if you want to cure the vampire disease this is the only way around it.
