Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell: Nintendo’s cameo filled beat â em-up returns with an even stranger mix of characters and at least one very special guest. It’s also going to be online for the first time so you can smack Pikachu over the head with a baseball bat from around the world. The lowdown: Although it’s not due to be released until next year Nintendo has already revealed that the new Smash Bros. will include a number of new playable characters such as Meta Knight from the Kirby games, Pit from Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus (i.e. Samus without her armour) from Metroid: Zero Mission, Wario and, most unexpectedly, Solid Snake from Metal Gear. The Nintendogs also make an appearance, although only as an item for obscuring the screen, and each character now seems to have some gigantic new special attacks that take up the whole screen.. Not only will the game have an online mode but it is the only major Nintendo title to use the “shell” controller by default rather than the Wii remote. Most exciting moment: The idea of Kirby and Solid Snake facing off is almost too bizarre to contemplate but the strangest moment in the trailer comes with Wario’s new bottom burp attack. Since you ask: Nintendo has admitted that it is in talks with other third party publishers, about the possibility of including other non-Nintendo characters in the game beyond just Solid Snake, with Sonic the Hedgehog touted as the next most likely to make an appearance. The bottom line: Video game’s finest are assembled for the most star studded fighting game ever. HARRISON DENT

What is the point? It's annoying.. May 14, 2008 Mr. D. B. Hepburn (Aberdeen, Sco, UK) 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
"Ooh, WOW, I just can't wait.. I saw a picture of the box from a US site and it just looks amazing" **End sarcasm** It does look good in the screen shots and clips I've seen.. So I guess keep these comments for game forums and youtube. If you've actually played it fair enough. Otherwise, get a dictionary and look up the word review. Got a feeling a few folks haven't taken the opportunity to do so.
The game is great but........ May 7, 2008 Matthew Brown (France) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Best multiplayer console game you are likely to ever play April 14, 2008 Mr. Denis R. M. George (Wales) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I recently bought this game from the USA and have been playing it (using freeloader) pretty much every time I meet up with my mates and I don't just mean for a few matches we play it alot... First I'd like to say that there are 35 playable characters in total for this game. But if you count the fact that some characters can completely change into others that makes about 38 characters (Pokemon Trainer, Sheik/Zelda). First of all it seems Nintendo have attempted to balance certain characters, Marth included. This is probably good news for alot of players but I never really had a problem with Marth in SSB Melee. But okay down to the game... The gameplay is great, you can play for hours with your friends and the thought of stopping doesn't really cross your mind at all. There are tons of new items (which I have mainly turned off due to the luck factor), tons of new stages and the ability to create custom stages just adds to the fun. I don't really enjoy single player too much as the fun is mainly when you and your friends get competitive, you can't exactly enjoy taunting a computer lol The subspace emissary is quite boring it would seem but I didn't buy Brawl to play that, I bought it so I could have the best multiplayer console experience. And I'm glad to say I got it :D One area that I think they could have improved on would be the ability to record games. It lets you record them but only if the match is around 3 minutes or under I think. Many times me and my friends have said 'We have got to have a replay of that' only to find the match was too long. Sad faces all around :( The graphics are decent, they look slightly worse when on a bigger TV but it's to be expected. But really if you were a fan of Melee you wont be disappointed with the improved graphics. The menu layout is clean and easy to navigate. The sound is great, I can't find a single fault in the sound atm. Everything down to Sonic's retro jump sound is there (seriously it sounds like you're playing the master system when sonic is on screen) Online is an area I feel they have really slipped up on though. There are really no options. I thought there would at least be the ability for stock matches.. but no. You are forced to play a 4 player 2 minute timed match. And there isn't too much you can do in 2 minutes unless you've picked a heavy character. I myself like to pick weaker characters, who require time to take kills but when online you really aren't given the time to show your skills. All in all I would say if you enjoy playing competitively with your friends this is definitely the game for you. It's a must-have Wii title in terms of its huge multiplayer prowess. And I can definitely say I'm very happy I bought this game from overseas. Don't think I could have waited much longer for it to be released here. Oh yeah before I forget, there are extra options like customising controls for certain players only. Like for myself I've turned off the option to jump with the directional stick. Anyway hope this wasn't too boring. Graphics: 8.5 Sound: 10 Fun: 10
Super Smash March 20, 2008 Mr. C. Cooper (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hi, for obvious reasons can't go into too much detail as game is not yet out in UK, But i own the US version and as all have stated, 4 different control methods offer anyone one from beginner to master player all the enjoyment and all the controls and the Flick of a finger. This is one of the best games out on the wii, and will offer hours of enjoyment for children all the way up to a OAP's, it really is a great game, with new characters, arenas, and much, much more. If you have played the originals no doubt you know alot about the game already, with the flow easy controls, electrifying moves and great attention to detail. In the new wii version there are many new characters such as sonic, wario, diddy kong and even a pokemon trainer. It really does add all aspects of the nintendo world, and doesnt forget about the classic charcters including Mario, Pikachu, Link, and many more. The charcters also come with new and improved special attacks, which will wipe your enemey out. The main new feature of the game is that it offers online game play, and many new features for multi player or solo play. the different modes will keep you at the tv for hours with charcters and arenas to be unlocked you wont want to stop playing. In my opinion the game is well worth the wait.
