Enjoyable if at times frustrating. May 26, 2008 I. Melvin (Fleetwood, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am unsure if any or most criticism that should be leveled at this game centers mostly on the control system of the wii rather than the game itself. Personally I found certain moves very frustrating repetitive and disappointing in this game. However, I also found many elements of the gameplay exciting and delightful. I was particularly pleased with the constant interchange of characters one plays, as well as the slightly weird concept of capturing fairies and sprites in a field guide, and the uses to which one puts them! The movie is well integrated into the play and I can see how the overall package will appeal to all fans of the Spiderwick series.

This game is fab, addictive and fun.I bought this game for the kids but found myself also getting addicted to it.I would recommend this game as its well worth 5 stars.
A nice little mix of thinking, rushing around, and film-tie-in April 27, 2008 DP (Middlesex United Kingdom) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Not being a massive console fan, I bought the Wii largely for nephew who is a gameaholic. Whilst buying the unit, we had the chance to get three free games. The kids chose Spiderwick chronicles as one of them - they liked the film you see. The game is tied into the film really cleverly. You play a variety of the characters in the film, one at a time, as the story unfolds. Your objective is to rush around, find/remember things, use them in the right places, fight some trolls, demons, bugs etc. The integration with the wii and nunchuck is fabulous. A good mix of buttons, joysticks and three dimensonal movement. The kids loved it, and most amazingly, so do I! Infact, I'm playing it end-end myself, its addictive!
