Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is the first game built around the legendary music of America's greatest rock `n' roll band: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. Fans will experience Aerosmith's GRAMMY award winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty, in a way that no other entertainment vehicle offers. As players progress through the game, they can rock out to the band's greatest hits, as well as songs from other celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band's rise to fame.

KEY FEATURES:

Let the music do the talking - The collaboration offers consumers an unprecedented level of access to Aerosmith's music catalogue and an unbeatable soundtrack, with every Aerosmith song being a master recording. Each set includes chart-topping hits from renowned artists that the band has either performed with, or has been inspired by.

Rock this way, talk this way - Relive rock `n' roll history and witness all five members of Aerosmith in all their glory. Motion capture sessions with each member of the band - including extensive facial motion capture featuring Steven Tyler's lip movements to every song - further deepens the experience. Additionally, multiple memorable outfits capture the band's rise to rock royalty, enabling players to feel like they're really experiencing those historic performances.

It started with a little kiss, like this - Completely redesigned venues featuring locations from historical moments in the band's career offers fans the opportunity to live the Aerosmith life. Starting with their first-ever concert at Nipmuc High School players ascend to the pinnacle of rock stardom.

Bass in the place - Enjoy the ultimate party experience in the Co-op quickplay game mode and shred as Joe Perry, Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton or select your favourite fictional Guitar Hero.

4 out of 5 stars Has it's limitations but still great fun ...   August 29, 2008

Prior to playing this Aerosmith version I had never played any of the Guitar Hero games & must admit, until this release it hadn't really appealed to me all that much. Once I saw that my all time favourite rock band had licensed a game however I decided to shell out on the Limited Edition package & have to say I'm more than pleased with the purchase.

The graphics aren't particularly great & the actual concept of the game isn't as innovative as I'd expected but you can't escape the fact that Guitar Hero is a bundle of fun. I understand there's less tracks to rock out to with this version but there's still around 25 Aerosmith tracks plus maybe another dozen or so by other artists. I have to say however that one of the dissapointments is the selection of chosen Aerosmith tracks although the band themselves apparently did pick the songs themselves. There's no "Dude Looks Like a Lady" (which admittedly isn't all that guitar-heavy) but there's a lack of tracks from the 80's albums in particular, also there's far too much Joe Perry stuff on here but again, I guess this is Guitar hero after all & he's the man !

The motion-capture of the band members and progression of your band through the game is cool & although I find I can only play the game for maybe half hour at a time as it's important that you focus your full attention on the game, it's a blast to rock out to some great tunes.

The guitar & customised Aerosmith faceplate that comes with the bundle is exteremely cool and they've also thrown in two sheets of stickers and a small book showing all the songs and stuff which are nice little additions.

All in all I wouldn't say Guitar Hero is amazing but it's damn good fun & if you're a fan of Aerosmith I'd highly recommend picking this up. Walk this way ....

3 out of 5 stars Bit of a letdown but still good.   June 29, 2008

I'll try to be short and concise as that is what i like to read in a review, i own guitar hero 3 and i would rate that 5 stars. So..

Why is this a let down?

1. Less songs
2. The graphics seem to have taken a step back
3. You play to earn money for new characters and guitars etc. But you are unable to use them for 80% of the songs as they seem to have a default setting to use the basic aerosmith characters
4. It isnt as challenging as guitar hero 3

Why do i still class it as a good game?

1. Although the songs are on general guite poor for eclectic tastes (unless you are a die hard aerosmith fan) it is still good fun to play.

If you have not played guitar hero before i'd suggest getting guitar hero 3 instead. If you have guitar hero 3 be prepared to be let down, but i'd still say it's a good buy, just not quite as fun.

Guitar hero in general is great fun for music fans. I just don't class this as highly as the previous release.
