Fantastic Gaming Experience! February 26, 2005 Trey Mercartné Released originally in the arcades during the summer of 1999, "Samba De Amigo" is one of the best, largely ignored, rhythm/party games ever made. The premise is simple - shake the maracas to the beat of several famous latin-flavoured songs. Blue balls flow accross the screen into six circles that represent various positions in which the player must hold the maracas. It may sound dull on paper - but "Samba De Amigo" is anything but. In fact, it's one of the most original, inventive and entertaining video games ever made. The beautifully rendered characters are colorful and bright - they and the interactive environments change to represent the players skill level. Do well and you'll be part of a big spanish-style fiesta - with smiling faces and crowds of dancing extras. However, do badly and the main character (Amigo) will cry and quietly shake his maraca's in the dark and on his own.Put simply, this is an amazing experience. Although you can play with the standard Dreamcast controller, it's not recommended. You lose the fun and excitement of the entire game if you don't have the maracas. The full set is gorgeous - large carry case, floor mat, two shiny red maraca's and the floor sensor (which tells your DC what position the maracas are in - it's all very clever) and you'll be proud to have this rare gem. I imported my set from Japan since the UK edition is very expensive and hard to find. Wherever you get it from, "Samba De Amigo" is an experience that cannot be beaten. Outstanding.
this is the best game ever June 12, 2003 Martin Adams samba di amigo is the greatest party game ever made i dare anybody to play this game and not enjoy themselfs if you can find it, then get it even better get a mate to buy one too as playing it in two player mode is even better.
Samba De Amigo July 26, 2002 WOW!!! This is the best game ever!! this is the most original game in the world shake the maracas in time to the onscreen instruction. A fun game with friends and family and a hit at partys. If you have a Dreamcast BUY IT!!! if you don't have a dreamcast BUY ONE AND THIS!!! Loads of cool songs in this such as Soul Bossa Nova (the Austin Powers theme), Take On Me, Tubthumping and Macarena plus loads of downloadable songs from Dreamarena.
Innovative, expensive and worth every penny! March 2, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Samba is one of those rare games - completely original! The gameplay is simple enough to master, but the real winner are the tracks that have been selected for the game - The Austin Powers theme and Take On Me are just two of the star performers! Add this to the fact that you can download more tunes from DreamArena and here you have a game with a long future. It is expensive, but you do ultimately get your moneys worth - BUY IT!!
Thank the Lord for Sonic Team February 3, 2001 A recipe for success: Take 1 monkey (Sombrero'd preferably) Add some damn catchy songs (including Burning Hearts from Burning Rangers !!!) Thrown in a liberal sprinkling of psychedelic graphics And two maraca controllers What have you got? Only the finest game this side of Mexico. With more laughs than a Funhouse full of feathers, this game will make you cry tears of complete delight and frustration, in hysterics saying "What did Sega do to deserve the negative press..? Damn those journalists - we will forever love you Sega!" BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT!!! And if you have it, buy it again 'cos the two player mode is excellent - Sonic Team have pulled it one of the bag again - surely they can't top this with Phantasy Star Online? (but I bet they can!).
