1 out of 5 stars Does not seem to be XP friendly   April 13, 2008

I recently tried to play this version but could not get it to load past the opening page. I'm also using XP and am very disappointed - especially as Ubisoft happily advertises this product to be Windows XP compatible.

Two thumbs way down because I can't even play it :-(

1 out of 5 stars Frustrated   February 5, 2007

I love scrabble, I have recently won my first ever game of French Scrabble in France; however this PC version is extremely frustrating. It is unbalaced. No matter what strategy one tries the opposition is always one step ahead; in fact I think that the opponents letters are deliberately selected to make it virtually impossible for the PC player to win. On many occasions the player's letters are all vowels or all consonants yet the opponent is able to make a seven letter word with optimum scores, eg double or triple letter/word scores, and make it impossible for the player to utilise the bonus squares. To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

5 out of 5 stars XP compatability   July 11, 2006

I have owned and enjoyed this game for a year now, although not an expert player, I like the fact that I can choose my level of play, the graphics and tiles are very clear and I don't have any complaints at all, except that having recently upgraded my PC to a laptop with XP software it doesn't work any more!

My husband has also tried to load it onto his computer (also XP)and he has the same problem - it will not load in properly. Has anyone else come across the same problem?

To start with, this game seems everything you could want from a Scrabble game - fast, good graphics and even a good choice of opponents. Ahh, there's the rub!
You see, no matter what level the opponents start on, even beginner, they get better and better giving you less than a one in three hope of ever winning.
This is done by a highly biased letter selection, you will often get 4 or more of the same letter whereas the computer will get a good range of vowels and high-score letters.

1 out of 5 stars scrabble 2005 VERY DISAPPOINTED   January 20, 2006

To say this game is disappointing is an understatement. Graphically the game tiles are small and unimaginative and the game did not recognise the word "him".

Come on ubi-soft after a great 2003 game how can you put your name to this poor example of this classic game.
