Mid-way to multiplayer madness March 3, 2007 Adrian Rashleigh (St Ives, Cornwall United Kingdom) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Enjoy playing the game. The controls are simple however the graphics are attractive and the gameplay itself is challenging enough. I have 6 pcs at home and am always looking out for good LAN multiplayer games as I also have 5 kids. I do not profess to be a pc whizz and usually learn how to get by the hard way. It is therefore massively annoying to find this game makes LAN connection almost impossible. I have checked the Eidos website - no patch yet - but there are lists of ports that need configuring and forwarding to be able to play. I would try to do all this to make it work but why should this be down to me...have e-mailed Eidos and am waiting for the patch, instructions or explanation.
Good Game, could be better February 22, 2007 Andrew L. Brown 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
Having waited for years for Battlestations midway, downloaded and played the multi-player demo(which worked), I was rather annoyed to find lots of problems with LAN games on the PC, considering the Single player Game is over after 4-6 hours, and that not everyone wants to play online with people they dont know, how can a game that worked in demo version suddenly have so many problems.? even the online game suffers from lag and player drops, come on "Eidos" get the patch ready and out, were not "ALL" puter guru's who want to spend more time configuring our puters, routers than playing the game. This should have been a 4 or 5 star game, but multi-player problems force a 3 star instead.
Not quite there! February 22, 2007 Mr. D. G. Woolston (UK) 19 out of 23 found this review helpful
Being a fan of naval war battles i jumped on this title, having sat through the install and run through the tutorials which were pretty good i played the first challenge. If you like madly clicking your mouse at targets and watching the same explosions time after time then this is for you. The model of the game is very generic and every unit seems the same accept they look different. The controls are a little difficult to get used to (for example no mouse inversion) and the graphics are OK!, Music is lacking and atmosphere is missing. In general just feels like an arcade war game, with levels and points!! I didn't play online cos i knew i would suck at it so that might warrant a few more stars, if its any better. In all i just didn't like it, i hate restrictive games with levels and scores. But if your an arcade freak then buy it.
Fun, but too simple and over all too quickly. February 22, 2007 Stephen Harrington (Melbourne, Victoria Australia) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This game seems as though it was designed primarily for a console. It's very simple, fun and far too short. I was expecting much larger maps and maybe a skirmish mode, even the chance to play as the Japanese would've been nice.
not bad... February 19, 2007 Mr. R. J. Mckee (UK) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
very nice looking game well modelled ships and aircraft. the terrain is also very good. i just found this game way too easy and completed to campaign within 6 hours so not happy that i paid 30 for it. however i think this game is more for online gaming
