Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: Microsoft's original civilian flight sim is still clocking up the air miles with the most significant sequel for years and a genuine attempt to make it more accessible for non-propellerheads. The lowdown: While almost all other flight simulators have fallen from grace on the PC, Microsoft have never given up on the genre with a game that's as ruthlessly realistic as it is completely free of any kind of violence. Every major, and minor, airport in the world is simulated and every major city has its share of recognisable landmarks, allowing you to fly anywhere in the world. There's a huge range of different aircraft to fly too: from jumbo jets and seaplanes to helicopters and everything in between. The only problem is that the game needs a seriously powerful PC to run at full whack, but even on lower detail levels this is still a stunning achievement. Most exciting moment: Despite the realism, the game isn't all dry simulation. There are a lot of fun missions to try out, including acting as a Hollywood stuntman, going on search and rescue flights, fighting fires and even flying over the infamous Area 51. Since you ask: The deluxe version of the game includes more cities, airports and aircraft as a well as an extra series of twenty-odd missions. There are also some additional multiplayer options, including the chance to share aircraft and have a go in the control tower. The bottom line: The most realistic commercial flight sim ever. Again.-HARRISON DENT

The Real Reason Why Planes Were Made August 16, 2008 James Parkhouse (England) This game is amazing! I was stunned when I bought this, the snow lanscapes are truly stunning! Every time you go on it you want to explore the world! One minute i was flying over the pyramids over Egypt the next minute i was travelling to the alps! Seriously if you are a trainer pilot or a person who loves viewing the landscapes in the air, then this game is certainly for you! (make sure you have the required hard drive space (15GB) otherwise your experience my not be so good) honestly this game is amazing, 5/5.
Great August 4, 2008 Tommy Ormseth (Norway) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sure this game is great, if you have the right PC. But overall MFS X is more or less boring! After all, you only fly from A to B, and the only action you can hope for is to deliberately crash into another airplane to at least experience something besides the excellent cockpit view. The IL Sturmovik series are far bether if one seeks intense flying experience and action. And with the upcoming Maddox Storm of War: Battle of Britain soon to be released, the MFS X is already on its way out.
Fun if your PC can handle it but reinstalling impossible February 23, 2008 N. Odgers (Cornwall) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did manage to play this game for about a week, and it was fun, it plays well on a top spec Mesh computer. However I had a system crash and tried to reinstall the game but got an error message right at the end of installation; have tried all the fixes I can find but no good. I have gone back to good old FS2002, perhaps there will be a FS2008?

perfect....just perfect December 6, 2007 james 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
i am someone that would love to fly but due to health reasons i cant. thats why i buy the flight simulations, and i have had them all. this one is perfect, the graphics, the planes and the missions, amazing. what i particulay like is when you fly over places like Africa, you can see animals moving below you. the reason i have given it 4 stars is because you need an incredibly powerful computer to get the decent graphics, i have a pretty good one and everything is set to low/medium. but that is the only reason why its 4 stars. by it, you wont regret it.
