Not what I had hoped for! October 20, 2008 Thomas Milnthorpe (W-S-M) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I should say first of that i love to make stories with The Sims 2, but some of my characters were growing old and I wanted to put them in a different environment. In comes Sims Castaway - it would be so cool to see my sims shipwrecked on an Island! A great way to write my character out of a Sims 2 plot for a while. But no, recreating a Sims 2 character isn't straightforward. For one thing, the story mode, the best bit, is limited by age and as my guy was elderly I was so gutted to see I could only use some pretty, young twenty-something guy. A system where you could import Sims from the Sims 2 seems to me a very big missed opportunity. The rest of the game struck me as dull and pointless. Whats the point of playing the normal mode when you might as well buy Bon Voyage and stay at the beach! Its also tiresome to keep collecting bits and bobs for your adventure. You can't play more than one storymode adventure at a time! Your first few goes are spent doing almost nothing but eating coconuts, writing in your diary and chopping wood. Thrilling!(Not!) Save your money for a Sims 2 expansiion, or The Sims 3 next year. The novelty of this island adventure doesn't last long! Fora game that advertises itself as having unlimited possibilities, it doesn't really offer you anything! Fun for a few hours, but that is all!

Very Very disappointed. I was very excited when I heard this was being released, I even complained to EA Games that the PC version was one of the last versions to be released, and they shouldnt leave us die hard fans till last. How wrong I was! for those of you who know your way around sim's this is nothing like, a standalone without the basic movements available in Sims2 alone! have now played 3 times and uninstalled. My friend who knows I play Sims, has bought for her PS2 and loves it!
WARNING WONT PLAY ON LAPTOPS WITH SIS INTERGRATED GRAFIX CARD! June 13, 2008 A. douglas (UK) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
THIS GAME WON'T PLAY PROPERLY ON SIS INTERGRATED GRAFIX CARD. You get nasty flashing walls, and rubbish grafix effects. Because it's integrated into the motherboard. You can't upgrade the grafix SO DONT BE FOOLED. By the hype that is Laptop friendly. It is not to all Laptops! I have a brand new laptop. I wasn't aware it had a ridiculuos Graphics card inside. If I did, I would of bought a much better Laptop. What makes me angry as this is marketed as laptop friendly. I thought that that the games, stating Laptop Friendly would play on my Laptop.. It's 2gb memory, 120gb hard drive, dual core processor. No problems? Yep. The Sims Stories specs are MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS 1.4GHz Processor 256MB RAM 8X DVD-ROM Drive 2.7GB Hard Disk Space 32MB ATi Radeon 7500 or nVidia GeForce2 class Video Card DirectX compatible Sound Card DirectX 9.0c It stated on the Official Maxis site that this game, and the other stories game don't require a video card. How wrong are they! So playing this on my desk top. Its a good game, when it plays properly.

The Sims2 Castaway was an exciting experience I found as It is compleatly different from any other sims2 game I have ever purchased before. The gameplay is good and story mode is very fun and exciting with about 21 chapters to get through. After you have compleated it though free play mode is very dull and boring nothing to do all the objects and stuff are just broken or tackie. Really makes you love the normal sims2. It is definatly worth buying tho and playing as you will have fun with it and is a good different type of sims2 experience.
ODD ANGLES March 1, 2008 Purplesoo (Bradford, Yorkshire, UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Although I enjoyed playing the first part of the game (got to the final stages early hours of today) I found there was not as much control over the action as there is with main Sims2 games. Not being able to use the directional arrows on my keyboard was a problem and also I was losing poor David in the awkward terrain of the village. I haven't killed anyone yet, so Part 2 here I come !!
