Amazon.co.uk Review World Championship Snooker is a self-explanatory title for a game; pot a red followed by a colour, then all the colours in a specified order when the reds are gone. What Codemasters have done is introduce 26 real-life digitised players and commentary from the legendary Dennis Taylor. Add to that six authentic locations, approval from the major World Snooker governing body and this is a game that everyone should be raving about. Sadly it's the detail that takes the shine off the game. All the practice in the world won't stop you getting extremely bored when the PC player wipes the floor with you--repeatedly--but you can cycle through this quickly to reduce the pain. That frustration promotes more practice and you will get to pot at least two balls before the computer resumes total domination of the frame. The controls are clearly laid out and there's a masterclass section to let you work on technique. The commentary is at least knowledgeable coming from a veteran, but all the surrounding gloss really relies upon whether you want the "be there inside the TV screen" feeling. It's rare for such a polished game to fall down because the real thing is more fun--this being a representation of what it's like to watch rather than play snooker --Kenneth Henry

Great Snooker Game - Possibly The Best Ever Made January 11, 2002 This game is brilliant. The graphics are excellent for the now-aging Playstation and the advice from the Dennis Taylor does help. An excellent aiming system makes up the good points for the game. On the downside, the computer players are often slow and take ages to take their shots and if you miss a ball you will probably lose the frame. These are the reasons why I chose 4 stars, but if these mistakes were not there then I would have given 5 stars. Buy it and enjoy it.
A Playstation Snooker sim that pots it's self in nicely July 24, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've played many snooker games for some console systems and I'm impressed on how well codemasters has done with there version of a snooker sim. The aiming aid is very good and accurate for a first timer who is playing the game and with players like stephen hendry playable this game is sure not to be a downer in the long line of snooker/pool games that there are. The animation could slighty improve and the time lags there are when wanting to hit the ball but overall this is a good snooker game for beginners and for a gamer who just waits a damn good game of snooker.
Snooker fans will love it! July 20, 2001 s_carroll@btinternet.com (London, UK) Great game, easy to get playing, worth going through the master class to help you pick up tips. Only downside is that the professionals are extremely good and pull off shots they would not even attempt to go for in reality, which can make it a bit difficult, because if you miss you will probably lose. Also can be a bit slow waiting for computer to play.
A damn fine game June 21, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A very realistic game, with all the famous names, just pick it up and play, or concentrate and pull off some amazing (but realistic) shots. The only down point is that it is slow at times. Recommended for anyone who likes a game of snooker.
A world class snooker game May 20, 2001 This is the best snooker game on the play station.Players can enjoy many hours of dropping balls into pockets while playing against som of the worlds best players.
