5 out of 5 stars ***Become the biggest popstar***   November 22, 2004

I think that this game is the best, the chart rundown, the album rundown, the amount of sales. they even have awards where the songs you make can ne nominated. i think they could have made it a bit more interesting, like you should be able to make a music video for your single, or there should be more individual countries you can release in, at the moment there is only America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. they should have Germany, UK, france etc. etc.

But i still think this game is brilliant, there should be a sequel. popstar maker 2

3 out of 5 stars Become a popstar manager and beat the rest!   April 25, 2004

Basically in this game you start off getting your very own band together, naming them, choosing them etc then you go out into the music worl, youfirstly have to record your own debut single in a studio where youbasically put beats and voice and different sounds together to make asong, then you name it polish it off and set it for release. The game isbased around a kind of never ending calender where you skip day by day andyou can book things like training time, a day in the studio, shows andgigs all in advance. For example if you have a single to release then setit for release in two weeks time but before that you have to organise gigsand appearences and pay for promotion of the single to help it get intothe charts at a decent number or possibly straight to no 1! This is whatyou keep doing throughout the game, but what happens is you become moreand more popular and you have to build up your bank balance earning moneyfrom single sales and gigs then eventually album sales and bigger gigs andall these will come from the different countries you break into as thegame goes along eventually, but also at the same time spending wisely andnot getting into debt, everything you do in the game costs you somethingbut you rely on your music and your popularity to get it all back and earnsome serious cash for you and your band members. Good features include theweekly Top Of The Pops style shows, interviews with some of the biggestchat show hosts in the world and each year at the annual awards ceremonyyour band will get nominated for certain awards like best dressedmale/female, best album, and even your own singles which you record andgive a title to can get single of the year! But you wont get any awards ifyou dont get that band trained and those fans screaming for more and thosesingles promoted to the max. I played on this game for hours and days andweeks, I was hooked, but this was before I had a PS2 and yes the graphicsarn't very good in this game, typical early PSone style and games aregetting so much more visual and challenging with AI and technology thatthe game does get repetative, maybe it could of done with levels ratherthan just going forever but being the same all the way through! I thinkyounger people will like this game, especially if they are buddingpopstars and it's fun for kids and easy to play for them, but I won't saythe game is as rubbish as some other people because it can be really funand satisfying at times!

If there were 0 stars I would select that one
Ok, for a start this game SUCKS!!! And people say it's good? You only have like 12 people to choose from, and the graphics are a massive 0 out of 100. The music maker is the worst I have ever seen. You can't get lots of sounds and words, like all the words you can choose from are stupid like "all together"," jump up" and "jump down" you cant get a decent beat!!!

So in collusion this game is the worst I own! :(

1 out of 5 stars Something to laugh about!   March 4, 2003

I found this game very repetative in the first few scenes. The band members are all the same and the clothes u choose to wear are dull. The music you make is all the same and the voices don't sound realistic. The gigs are silly and hardly anyone turns up. Your band members leave to pursue other solo deals and the dance routines are corny and the same. This game isn't very good, I didn't like it and was very angry to pay 10.00 and get this kind of game format. I would not recommend it!

2 out of 5 stars It gets extremely boring!!!!!   August 8, 2002

This is a game you either love or hate! I bought it and the first 2 goes I thought it was excellent but after that it gets mind-numbingly boring! If you manage to get a #1 song more than twice then all the songs you release will go to #1 which makes loads of money but isn't very exciting after a while. Also all you ever get are e-mails asking to change contracts to allow you to release singles/albums in different countries. (There are only 4 countries available throughout the entire game! Europe, America, Asia and Austrailia.) And you also get at least 4 e-mails a week asking to appear on TV shows depending on your popularity. This can get very annoying! The goal of the game is to keep all the band members happy and win all the awards. The biggest is the lifetime achievement award. Once you've won that you've basically won the game. The game can get extremly repetitive and annoying. Rent it before you buy it!
