I don't usually say this, but... September 28, 2008 Grey'um Don't bother with el cheapo cables from 3rd party manufacturers (unless they are certified). I bought a cheap brand and the image was worse than the old composite it replaced, so a lesson learned there I guess. I'd never had a problem with other consoles and cheap cables though... So anyway, I bought the official one after returning the defective cable. Let's get this straight, you are not going to suddenly see amazingly detailed imagery from the Wii. It's still only 480p, but it's enough to really clean up most games (varies from game to game). Whether you really need such a cable could be debatable, but we needed to free up some inputs and the component was free, so... I don't know why Amazon are asking "How much fun is this game?" and "How do you rate this game overall?", because it isn't a game. However, I'll rate "this game" 5 stars, for doing exactly what it should do without fuss or bother.
WII COMPONENT VIDEO CABLE September 21, 2008 J. Jones (England) This upgrade, once set up, results in an instantly shaper picter, with better colours (both brightness and range/graduation) along with a much sharper image. The superior quality over scart is immediately apparent
LCD TV?? then you need this August 30, 2008 Mr. D. G. Hill (wales) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read the reviews on here & on other websites I was still a bit sceptical, but was really pleased with the difference to the picture on my Sony LCD TV using this cable........it does really sharpen up the image, but as other reviwers have said make sure you change the settings on the Wii menu to 480P
An essential purchase for any TV with component input August 27, 2008 D. J. Burton (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Note this does not give you a high definition signal! All you need is a TV that accepts component input. If you own a Wii and have not yet bought a component cable then you should seriously consider getting one. The standard Wii package only includes a SCART connection and in layman's terms that means a poor picture quality that is blurry edged and vague. You would not believe the improvement a component cable gives - I'd honestly go as far as to say that it's a real shame Nintendo don't give a component cable as standard. By upgrading the connection with a component cable you get crisp edged graphics that are clear and much much better on the eye. I would say the quality is two or threefold improved. It has to be seen to be believed - similar to changing from a VHS video to a DVD! You can check your TV is compatible by seeing if the back of the TV has a row of red green and blue sockets (for the picture signal), with 2 audio sockets (red and white) to accompany them. This is one of the best purchases you can choose for a Wii system. The official Nintendo cable will always offer a good quality signal - you know that you are getting what you pay for. However I must stress that there are 3rd party and cheaper options out there that are just as good, but there are also the bad 3rd party offerings too. I have personally compared both a 3rd party and the Nintendo cable in the past. The Nintendo option will allow you to avoid the minefield that is 3rd party copies, but costs a little more for the privilege.
wii August 2, 2008 Peter Oates The component cable is great easy to use no setup needed just plug and play. Normally the writing on the wii is all blurred and is all sorta joined together but with this cable it's great, also the game play is much better im my opinion and the sound quality has improved too because the ends are gold plated unlike the ones that come with the wii. only down side is that it arrived 1 day after expected arrival but who cares!
