Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Brilliant but hard   August 13, 2008
K. E. Barrett (Wales)
Ok firstly i am a big DOA fan i have DOA 1 on PS1 DOA 2 on PS2 and now 3 and 4 on X BOX 360.

5/5 For the graphics, They are amazing so clear, fresh and clean.

5/5 For the characters they have a unique fighting style with new moves and a very fast way of moving. It makes it very fun.

5/5 for the overal game. Brilliant

1/5 When you fight the computer. The computer cheats and knows what moves you are about to make. It then counter attacks you endlesly. Using like 100 combos in one go, and using countless special attacks. It wont leave you get up and for some reason you are not that fast getting back up but the computer is up in 1 second. And if it knows your winning it will kill you anyway.

4 out of 5 stars Dead or Alive 4 - The Honest Review   February 5, 2008

Hi everyone this is my honest review of DOA4 for the 360, this game no dout is one of the best fighting games availible for the xbox 360 and has had good feed back with previous games but how does 4 stand up lets see.

GAMEPLAY:
DOA4 is one of the fastest and adrenaline filled beat em ups out there, the controls are very easy to pick up and play that even your nan could give you a hammering lol. Much like its prequels DOA4 mixes fast easy to learn combos with throws and interactive environments. Unfortunatly DOA4 lacks a block button but works more on easy to execute counter moves, which adds more realism to the martial arts experience. Granted some might find this hard to pull of but adjusting the options will help by about 10%. With plenty of achievements, game modes and characters to unlock even one for the Halo fans :p DOA4 has alot of replay value. and for those who dont like too much change the DOA series is well known for its *wink* PG13 side and nothing has changed in the 4th installment.

GRAPHICS:
DOA4 has incredible graphics characters and environments are very smoothly detailed and colourful but still manages to keep the anime feel of the characters.
the physics engine is great in this game
Everything in the game moves like it would in real life and all the environments are FULLY interactive and filled with character.

MULTIPLAYER:
Ok im gonna go through the online and offline multiplayer for this game as both are really enjoyable,

offline: Get some friends over and stick it to em or team up with them to take on some CPU AI controlled chracters in fast pace battles for up to 4 players (woo lol)

Game Modes:

Single vs match - Pretty much does as it says simple one on one battle

Tag match - VS Comp or Player - 2 on 2 combat double the fun with impressive double team moves :P

Team Battle - 8 man or woman battle winner stays on first to run out of chracters is the loser.

Ok the same is repeated for Live but with some small mini games put in the Lobby section which is all good :).

OVERALL:
If you are new to DOA then you will take an instant liking to this game and the sparring mode might be a good place to start as some opponents can be really hard to beat and seeing the continue screen time after time can be annoying, but if your an all time DOA player then DOA4 has more to offer than previous chapters (quite new to the series) this is deffinitly one of the most addicting and amazing beat em up games out there to date and at that price you'd be crazy to say no
(if your a male your most probably going to love the female characters lol) DOA4 is deffinitly worth buying whether you love beat em ups or not, beacuse with mates round this game never gets boring. and the Aerosmith soundtrack on this game is aswesome :P

Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful to you

4 out of 5 stars Great Fun   January 8, 2008
Andy Chapman (Newquay - UK)
This game is on par, if not, better than its predecessors. The game is fast and the action doest stop. Lots of familiar characters as well as a few new ones make this title a must have for fans of both DOA and Beat 'em Up games.

Unfortunately the game developers have leaned too far to the 'Sex Appeal' of the game. There are too many female characters with unnatural body sizes... This is made apparent by the totally pointless end sequences for the female cast. There are a select few that are part of the story but when you get a CGI movie after finishing the story with Kasumi and watch her swim around topless as a mermaid you are left wondering 'What the h*ll was the point in that??'

It was obvious in the beginning that the DOA series would reel in that kind of audience but in my personal opinion it should have been left in the 'Beach Volleyball' version of the game (which i havn't played). Thats where it belongs.

Despite that, The fighting is great fun to play and even more fun to master. It can be challenging but i think that just adds to the lifespan of the game. I've owned it now for two years and I can still pick it up and have fun.

I believe this to be the best Beat 'em Up title on the 360 and the best Beat 'em Up series on any format.

4 out of 5 stars Classic, Fast and furrious   October 30, 2007
J. Perry (Rotherham, England)
This game is fast, furious, brutal, and has the lovely ladies and their bouncy bits back again. People may complain of the diffuclty factor (which is a bit bad when the boss can due some stupid 12 hit combo, will not be grabbed and is almost impossible to counter hold). But beside that is is a fun game, the graphics are absolutely astonashing, the sound effects are great and the characters very detailed. The characters from DOA3 are back with brad wong the drunk making his alchoholic apearence again. You will be frustrated starting fights over and over again but then again it also gives you great satisfaction watching that final blow strike when you finally beat your opponant. New inovations for the fighting include more uses of the scenary including using cars, leaping over rails and in water. One of the main things i have against this game, is the speed it runs at. Some people will say, but why complain because it runs better, The reason i complain is that on DOA3 + DOA2 Ultimate, you have a speed control function and on this game you done, it runs faster than when i set DOA3 to 150% speed, which means its hard to counter and block you opponant when they are moving at the speed of sound. All in all though a great gaem, and one i shall enjoy playing online.
