5 out of 5 stars Who said PS3 can't be a party console?   August 20, 2008
Niall Wilson (Jolly Old England)
If your a fan of arcade titles or fun multiplayer titles, then this game NEEDS to be in your collection.

An excellent masterpiece of an arcade game, basicaly ticks all the boxes, the graphics are exactly what you'd expect, they are cartoony and unrealistic.. just like the gameplay (that isnt a bad thing).

The gameplay itself is just easy to learn, basically, it's just a press X at the right time affair, this isn't a bad thing, as I don't want aload of extensive golf knowledge just to play this. If I wanted to do that, i'd probably pick up a PGA Tour game or whatever they are these days.

This game really shines in multiplayer, it's pretty much born for it, either way, if your not a fan of Golf, you might actually end up enjoying this game.

5 out of 5 stars Different than Tiger, better than Tiger   July 16, 2008

This game could be overlooked as nothing but a kids game but in fact what we have here is one of the best golf games ever.

The gameplay is fantastic, even more realistic than Tiger. No mystical after shot spin and you do not know the wind speed until after you drive (you can look at the environment or drop some grass and watch it fall as an indicator).

The advanced controls are brilliant, much more realistic than the normal controls and the very decent putting system is challenging but rewarding.

The courses, though not numerous (only slight downfall) are all fictional and are brilliantly designed mixing beauty with challenge with some great touches within them.

The characters in the game are charming, cutesy Japanese style animated characters each with their own personality querks. You can build up their profiles and aquire new gear for them and they make the game even more fun than it already is.

I haven't been online yet but it is highly rated by all critics including 50 player tournaments, i can't wait.

There is downloadable content too including a new course for just 2.99.

In conclusion Tiger Woods is a very good game which takes itself very seriously, this is an excellent game which wants you to have as much fun as possible and it delivers. This game is a hell of a lot more fun than Tiger woods and just as rewarding, in fact the funny thing is that if you are wanting an accurate golf sim then i think this tops those stakes too.

If you like golf games, have in the past or have an urge try then this is a must have game.

5 out of 5 stars Great game without affecting your real golf game style.   July 4, 2008
Moo doo
If I wanted to play real style golf I'd go and play the real thing, Not on a wii.

This is a great game that all the family can play and enjoy all together and it doesn't spoil your REAL style of the golf that the wii could do.

Graphics are fun and quirky, online games are fun and rewards are silly little outfits etc .. nice and fun.

Its a game thats got long playability. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Fun Fun!   June 18, 2008

This is an exceptionally fun game. The game oozes charm on all levels and is highly addictive mainly because you have so much fun playing it. There are unavoidable camparisons with Tiger Woods games, and i have to say I have more fun playing Everybody's Golf as Tiger seems a little like hard work at times. I also think that I prefer the control in EG because you set up your shot deciding on power, direction and spin and then there is a tense wait to see where your ball finishes up - Tiger allows you to suddenly put on loads of spin mid-air to try and correct a misjudged shot (obviously I use it all the time playing Tiger, but it does seem like cheating). Other things I like include not knowing the wind speed until after the first drive and the lack of a putting guide. EG, under a very cutsey exterior, is a brilliant and, dare I say it, in some ways a technically more realistic golf game than Tiger Woods. Oh, it is also huge fun!!

5 out of 5 stars Sorry Tiger, but this has gameplay in buckets!   April 5, 2008

I've been a fan of this type of golf for sometime now. I owned the PS1 and PS2 versions and so naturally purchased the PS3 one.

1. This isn't TIGER and was never meant to create anything similar. The physics and graphics are not supposed to be 'lifelike'. EGWT has always been cartoonesque. This makes it both fun and interesting.

2. The online mode is done very well. The only drawback that I found was that some of the tournaments (up to 50 players) can take sometime in slow and very slow mode. This allows a certain amount of time for each hole played and in these modes you can finish the hole and be sitting doing nothing for a minute or two. It certainly makes things interesting when you trying to beat a player from the other side of the world, or your mates sofa!

3. Playability is now available in either the traditional swing bar at the bottom of the screen or by using advanced swing, which allows for a slightly more realistic take on a golf swing.

4. The graphics are superb. The grass looks real (even to the extent of sun browning) and the environments are top notch. The safari course is worthy of mention.

5. The sound is by far the only let down. Plinky plonky tunes that get on your nerves and voice overs that sound cheesey and vague. This is understandable as the port comes from a well known series of Japanese golf games and it's developed with that market in mind in particular. The longevity is harnessed to this market, with rewards and costumes being given for good gameplay, allowing extra characters and courses to be introduced over a steady period of time.

If you are heavily into TIGER or want to experiment with a different type of golf game, then EGWT is a worthy addition to your PS3 collection.
