Amazon.co.uk Review Live out many a schoolboy's (or armchair supporter's) dream and step into the boots of Beckham or Owen as you lead your team out onto the pixellated turf in FIFA's millennium edition of its perennial offering. In what is arguably the most realistic football simulation game on the market, you get to put into practice all those moments of tactical genius you dreamt up with your mates, as well as a few you might never have considered. Superior controls make shooting and passing second-nature, while your opponents possess enough intelligence and skill to give you a good game and a realistic scoreline. After choosing between friendly, tournament, season or training matches, you then go on to pick one of 450 teams from 15 of the top leagues in the world. Your choice of location and weather conditions comes next, before you embark on a game lasting between four and 45 minutes. (You also stipulate the duration). If players of the modern game don't make your grade, you have the edge over real-life managers with your ability to draw on past talent and pick from classic squads such as the World Cup winners of 1966. Though footie fanatics will find plenty to please them, more mainstream gamers should also give it a go: arcade-style gameplay and well-executed 3-D graphics provide an addictive gaming experience that make you want to return time and time again. It has traditional gaming elements of tactical play and competitive challenge that offer something for almost everyone. With an ELSPA minimum age rating of just 3 years, FIFA 2000 contains none of the on-pitch or off-pitch violence and obscenities often seen and heard in the real game--this is football as it should be! --Robert Hyde

The best one yet June 21, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is a joy to watch. Both the graphics and gameplay are very realistic, with such detail as 'sheilding' the ball to win a throw-in, corner etc. At the same time, the controls are simple and easy to use. Some would argue that one down-side is that there isn't a pass/lob/shot meter (to control the power), but I see this as an advantage because it makes one-touch passing, lobbing and shooting much easier. Unlike fifa 2003, the frr-kicks are realistic and hard to score from (but not impossible, I've scored 2!). Buy this wonderful game before it's too late!

Lot of work has gone in to it since the last version. The sound, graphics and visual effects are fantastic. I spent may hours and still come back wanting more. If you buy any soccer game this year, buy this.
Fifa 2000 releases and still no change? August 26, 2000 well what can i say, good game good game in the words of brucie, but seriously what is there to be improved on a near perfect renditon on the real thing, well men look better, but the goalies are still unbelieveably bad and the players do all of the same skills i mean from ginola to blumming well tony 'eh or' adams they all do the same skills, the cheats are alot funnier but the game still goes down to the same eventual end the fact that you know another game will be released within a few months (by the developers) that will no doubt claim to be the best rendition so far and i bet probably is from the realism point of view but is it really all that good if you dont have a graphics card to go with all the hype. ho hum, judge for yourself download the demo before you buy is my advise.
