5 out of 5 stars Really good game but not that fun to play!   April 4, 2008
Ms. M. Cooper (England)

This game really sets your Sims life up, when you go to university you meet lots and lots of sims and you usually meet the sim of your dreams. If you study hard you can get an A+ easily. It builds you skills up, so when it comes to work for your Sims they find it easy to progress up the ladder. They can usually learn guitar and play in a band with their friends and they can also go to communtiy lots and treat themselves to gadgets (like Mp3's, handheld console's and...cell phone's!!!) You can also study at the Libarys avalible, play gigs publicly earning lots of money for it and shop till you drop!

On the other hand. The whole process is very very legnthly. It is about six days per semester. And there are four semesters alltogether. So 24 days is a long time and stretches out and seems to go on and on and on! You eventually start getting bored and it takes alot for me to finish university. If it was two semesters it wouldnt get so dull but hey thats what uni is like!

Overall It's a really good idea for a game but it gets repetitive. The objects are all quite fun and I enjoy the instruments mostly. This adds alot of bed to the catalog so if its cheap objects you want then this is good. If you want more clothes for the Sims then this expansion isn't really for that it only has clothes for young adults.

4 out of 5 stars Sims 2 Expansion Graduates With Honours   March 5, 2008

Several years have passed since The Sims 2 was first released and a good half dozen expansions have followed in that time. One of the earliest and best was The Sims 2 University which gave Sims the chance to go wild, join a fraternity and get inappropriately close to their Professors.

The changes this makes to the life of your Sim are enormous and there are significant benefits to your character's development. No longer does your Sim suddenly switch from spotty youth to the mailboy at the local SimBusiness - with a University education comes the ability to study a subject and get a helping hand up the career ladder in related fields when you emerge.

How does University work? There are three campuses, each with their own feel and benefits. Go to the prestigious Acadamie and you will find culture galore but also there are no fraternities or sororities for your SimStudent to join. This gives the process of choosing a University more importance - it is not simply a cosmetic decision.

When your Sim arrives on campus they can choose somewhere to live - the more scholarships they are eligible for the more money they will have to play with. If they opt for a dorm rather than private accommodation they will then settle in and will have to claim a room. The whole process felt highly nostalgic (people turning up at your door in the middle of the night, nabbing your stuff and leaving rubbish everywhere).

Fellow students inhabit the rooms around you and you will need to have your Sim call their parents every so often. Study groups are open to those who enjoy that sort of thing or you can enjoy playing pranks on your fellow students.

Then you have your first lessons. This process works much like the work mechanics in the main game. Your class will meet at a particular time and your Sim will disappear (assuming they can get out of bed). Their performance will match their efforts and can be boosted by working hard on term papers and studying in the library.

Then they specialise and pick the subject they most want to do. Whichever subject they pick they will find themselves needing to achieve certain skill levels in order to achieve, much like in any job in the game. This system works well and ensures that the process feels familiar enough to enable you to make good decisions from the moment your Sim arrives at University but different enough to make this period feel special.

Above all you now have more choices open to you throughout a young Sim's life. The expansion adds in a whole new life cycle, new activities, fashions and careers to achieve an entertaining effect.

To call it essential would be an exaggeration - this is an expansion pack best suited to those who plan on raising generations of Sims and of little use to those who do fancy giving their SimChildren a bit more time before growing up. It also fails in not offering an alternative for that time period for those who fancy something other than a University education - a "gap year" maybe.

All that said, The Sims 2 University manages to get the essence of student life with all its peculiarities and package that into gaming form with a dash of Sims' flavour. That is quite the achievement and makes this expansion well worth picking up for Sims addicts.

5 out of 5 stars it's great, want a cheat or 2?   February 19, 2008

I think that it's great, and i spend most of my time on it (when i'm not at school). I was dissapointed that I couldn't make dorms once you've used up the ready made ones, but then i found out about the cheats...
to change a plot into a house type of your choice, a dorm, secret society, community, rented and so on press and hold ctrl shift and c until a window comes up at the top, then type in changeLotZoning(the type of house of your choice). obviously put in dorm or whatever in the brackets. Also don't leave any spaces and put capitals on the 2nd and 3rd word. You can only do this when your in a lot, then you have to come back out of it and it will be what you chose.
To find more cheats go on a sims website or type in help in the cheats bar.
(type motherlode for 50,000)

5 out of 5 stars The most important expansion? Yes.   December 17, 2007

This expansion is more important to your sims life than any other expansion in my opinion.

University life is fun and there are lots of extra things to do (which is useful because your sims life is extended!) with rewards that benifit life after university greatly.

The new jobs are interesting and the rewards for them are much better than the seasons ones. (The ability to kill other sims and bring sims back to life is rather fun)

Some of the best objects from the expansion include pool tables and musical instruments, which really helps you kit out your big houses with lots of cool stuff to make the neighbours jelous!

Oh yeah, its got Zombies.

I know that this review isn't realy a review but plase read it cas it's propper good what you can do with it.
Ok Hears the deal. Sims 2 is the best game ever and I'm compleatly hoocked but if you want to make your sims2 university experience even better hest what u gotta do. pull up the cheet box by presing either ctrl alt c or ctrl shift c or another of those combinations cant remember which but one of the 2 should do it. it should pop up at the top of your screen. enter exactly this otherwise it wont work. boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled true. you must put exacly that. then press enter and the cheat box should dissapear if it dosnt and it becomes bigger you've done it wrong so try again. if it dosn't say its wrong then type exit into the box and it'll disappear. then click on your sim while holding the shift button and a huge menu will pop up. click on more then go to spawn... then click on tombstone of L and D. a tombstone should appear. click on it and it and it will let you spawn -create out of nowhere- and type of sim you like e.g boy todler girl todler boy teen girl teen ect. so if you make a huge house for them to live in then spawn teenagers in campus they'll al pop up. then you save and go back to neibourhood and when you go back to your house they'll all be young adults and you can guide them all through college. be careful to keep and eye on them all though cas otherwise they'll die as happened to me. also if your computer is very slow playin the sims already i advise you not to do this as it probebly will make it even slower when your playing otherwise have fun!!
I used this cheet ans was a ble to make my own hogwarts it was great.
