A WORTHY EXPANSION PACK December 30, 2007 stuart (MIDDLESBROUGH, ENGLAND) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is Time - without further haste I beseech you, take up Arthas' continuing journey into madness (as well as other journeys), lest we all be left in the land of unfinished plots. Warcraft III: Frozen Throne opens with another of those exquisite cinematics that Blizzard have become renowned for in their Warcraft series. Thus having set the scene, you take control of the Warden, a new night elf hero (there's one new hero for each race). The plot then takes you through both human and undead campaigns. A reworked engine from Blizzard for crafting a more RPG guided game has allowed the Orcs their own story line that turns equally dark. The first episode comes with Frozen Throne - two subsequent episodes will become available online at a later date. A host of new features such as new character and neutral heroes (including the excellent Pandaran brew master and Pitfiend), spells, army and marine units and new tile sets are all well developed and add an even further depth to the game. Other features such as building and upgrade queuing are very welcome additions to gameplay. The single-player campaign should have been a little longer, but it does retain an excellent plot throughout, so this is merely a niggle for those of you who play games religiously. The custom game has been expanded slightly, with a new AI and the introduction of handicap mode for friends or computer opponents making for a better LAN or Battle.net experience. Online play has also been expanded with the addition of clan gaming into the Warcraft ladders adding a much-requested aspect alongside other new features such as tournament gaming. Another element is the added extras for the world editor, which bring the a near endless supply of possibilities for the game with masses of new tweaks and editors within the program itself. Expect a lot of new and well-made material from the Warcraft community. Frozen Throne has been expanded in every way possible without compromising a superb plot or unbalancing the game. A real must have for anyone with the game, and if you hadn't already purchased Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, then why not go now? Buy, dammit, buy!
Blizzard at their very best... May 24, 2007 Rossy836 (Preston, England) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Some would argue that this expansion pack does not really add anything particularly new. However, this shouldn't really be all that surprisining, as Blizzard very much subscribe to the theory of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. The add-on carried on what was already an expertly crafted story (which will help you appreciate World of Warcraft that bit more if you play it), with yet more brilliant cut-scenes and fantastic voice acting. As far as traditional strategy goes, this is as good as it gets!
A good expansion pack. April 12, 2007 Mrs. T. V. Todaro 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a good expansion to the original game Reign of Chaos. It gives you extras such as new heros, new buildings and all new campains. The graphics aren't excellent but you can live with them. It gets a bit boring after a while. The online multiplayer makes this game much better. Without it the game would be boring. All in all i would recommend this to get the most out of Warcraft 3.
This is an expansion pack,,,not a stand alone software. April 12, 2007 Jay (Mauritius) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Don,t buy this as a stand alone...you need Reign of Chaos otherwise it will be raining chaos for you. This is an expansion pack,,,not a stand alone software. The story extends further for Arthas and he is typified as a real baddy now...forget the brave prince...he's the Warcraft Darth Vader if any. Nice plot..so some levels are excruciating even with the cheats......
Great. July 17, 2006 Lysander (England) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Not an amazing addition, but expansions never are. You'll **need** this to even consider playing online, as %99.9 players have it. It adds some nifty balance issues too. Note: This is the EXPANSION. You will need the ORIGINAL GAME to install this!
