In a nutshell:
After seven years the granddaddy of real-time strategy finally gets a proper sequel as GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod face off in the final part of the Tiberium trilogy. As normal you can take either side, as well as a third secret faction heavily hinted to be alien in originâ . The lowdown:
The Command & Conquer games helped to kick start the real-time strategy genre back in the â 90s and now finally this sequel is here to breath new life into what was an idea that seemed to get old long before its time. Naturally the graphics have been improved immensely, with tanks kicking up dust in their passing and larger explosions causing huge craters in the landscape. The artificial intelligence has also been hugely improved with expert path-finding for all units and a computer opponent that adjust its playing style to the pace of game you prefer. All of this is topped off by the dense storytelling fans love, including lots of live action cut scenes. Most exciting moment:
The stunning graphics make for some hugely cinematic battles, with squadrons of Orca gunships kicking up debris from the ground beneath their jet exhausts, as they battle buildings filled with Nod snipers before eventually calling in a missile strike to level the whole battleground. Since you ask:
EA has confirmed that fan favourite Kane – the bald headed leader of the evil Nod – will feature heavily in the game story, although whether he’ll be played by the same actor as before is unclear. The bottom line:
The best selling strategy series ever finally returns to the PC.

Good points:
Generally a good RTS. Enough different units to learn and manage. Good documentation with the DVD. Interesting cut-scenes and the whole story. Amazing visuals. I totally loved terrorist style units and strategy of the NOD.
Bad points:
Only 30fps! Even at lowest graphics quality, regardless what machine you have - still only 30fps maximum! Because of this some camera movement feels jumpy and rarely your actions are ignored.
Sometimes units stuck in some places and can't find a way to a destination.
Overall:
Fun game, but could be better if mentioned problems would be fixed.

Visually the game is great with the best storyline yet. The videos and the cast in them as also excellent. Where the game fails is that it's basically more of the same. While the addition of another race should add to the mix, those units are basically redressed units of factions from earlier C&C games. The missions are also the same.. capture.. destroy.. protect... with little variety regardless of which side you choose to play as. I had high hopes for this game but it leaves me not wanting to go near C&C again and I've played them all.

As a continuation of the Tiberium series of C&C, 3 is pretty good. It's a shame they haven't updated the gameplay style at all; it's still the same concept introduced way back in Dune 2000. That said, it's pretty easy as a fan to gloss over this because it's Tiberium, it's Kane, it's GDI & NOD, and it's done pretty well. The acting isn't quite as good as Tiberium Sun, and the plot could have done with being a touch longer with more intrigue.
The graphics are top-notch, sound effects suitably sci-fi, and you certainly get more of a feel of being there, of a living breathing army, than previous games. On that subject though, Tiberium Sun's lifeforms, mutants, and other neutral inhabitants are sadly lacking, leaving the maps feeling rather barren, even given the plot-line.
If you're looking for a solid alternative to Dawn of War in an RTS, C&C Tiberium Wars can certainly satisfy, but it's no Supreme Commander in terms of scale or innovation. It retains the differing play-styles of GDI and NOD, with the addition of the Scrin providing a third alternative. Multiplayer maps can feel a bit cramped in some cases though.
Finally, for those boycotting SecuROM and their awful copy-protection rubbish, sadly this game comes with it. I deducted a star for this reason. If you can successfully get it to run (I struggled initially) then it's worth a look.
The addition of various interviews and other neat stuff with the Kane Edition doesn't add much overall, but if you're a collector, there is enough to satisfy.

I was looking forward to this game, yet for some reason I could not get it to install.
After a bit of digging, I discovered - to my astonishment - that this game is not supported by Vista 64!
No-where on this page is it said explicitly that this game is useless for one of the most popular operating systems around - BEWARE.

It has its good points which are outlined in other reviews such as visuals but its quite tedious and limited. I think overall its a sloppy addition to the C&C series and I've tired of it already. Shame
