A good 'pick-up-and-play'. October 31, 2008 M. Wheeler (UK) I've just been reading the reveiws and thought I should defend Jericho. I played it on the PS3 and I liked it.... that was with out dual-shock.... the absence of a bit of rumbling when shooting was a let down for me hence why I was looking at it for the 360. I would say that if you are just looking for a bit of mindless fun then for less than what.... ten quid now, this is definately worth a shot. Yes it can get frustrating at times and yes it can get repetative too... but if you're not planning on spending 6 hours solid playing it, then have a go! As vouched for in most of the other reviews, the graphics are rather tasty! Plus killing things with guns is fun... hmmm... forgot about Denied Ops.... that was poor..... Anyway... for less than a tenner, it's woth a shot surely! Just don't spend to long in one sitting on it, it will seem rather repetative; in short sessions I found it thoroughly enjoyable!
Brilliant story and excellent game play! May 3, 2008 G. Beckett (England) How anyone can say this games crap is beyond me. Clive Barkers Jericho is one of the best games I have played in ages. The story will keep you hooked from start to finish and its great the way you can change from character to character. I really hope they continue the story and bring out a second Jericho! All in all its everything you want from a game and more.
HATED the First 2 hours or so......easily the best gme I have played for a loooong time January 19, 2008 N. Haynes (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I will agree with some of the bits that people have written.... I found the first 2 hours to be awful (at the time). However, I have a Wii and you get that with every Wii game that's not minigames or cutesy. The push-button thing is nasty, BUT you don't lose or go back 3 hours if you fail - it starts the sequence again, untl you get it. Tomb Raider has used this technique hugely and it's somewhat loved :) The Storyline: Spanking The problem is that it takes a few hours to get control of the whole team personally (you can possess them, as you're already dead), and then further to get to use their full powers. Once you get all that, it has the most amazing gameplay - it may be linear in method, BUT you have so many options it's unreal. It really is incredible and has so much more than any FPS I've played. When you're paralysing monsters with Blood Magic, then using a fire demon while they're like that to eat one, slowing time with another character, then slicing them up with a Katana....sweet. Like Gears of War, the squad often gets taken down two seperate paths and the story is actually very mature. I love it, and for the price it's the best thing you can buy....just play through the first bits and learn the talents - some of them you don't realise until you read the book, so look. If they gave every character and every power immediately, it would be impossible to play, so it's done to help the player. Play it!! Oh yes...the gun thing...it takes a bit to take monsters down, but combining the squads' powers and weapons sort things out damn quickly - you can maul things later. There are big dudes to kill, and they are ALWAYS killable, just a bit difficult. The BAD level is the German pill boxes near the beginning, but use COle to slow time and it's easy - if you don't look and see her powers, it's controller-tantrum time....
Heed the warnings... January 4, 2008 Six (England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
...because I didn't and bought this game despite all the bad reviews. Unfotunately I let my curiosity, given the Clive Barker association, get the better of me. Almost everything about this game is frustrating or annoying right down to the sound effects and music. Save your money.
A good game with a great story... January 3, 2008 Was it something I said???? (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't know what other people are whining on about with this game being so bad, but maybe it's because I don't play many fps's. I usually play rpg's and survival horrors, but what swayed me was - Clive Barker. I have played fps's with terrible story lines that people have raved about being the best thing since sliced bread, and this is a simple game, with a BRILLIANT story. Yes it may not be the most complicated with gaming features. But what is wrong with playing a game for the story? which is what the developers were going for from what I see. when did a good game constitute no story and pointless random complicated game play? I don't have to worry about any plethora of confusing controls, or power up. It is very simple, but satisfying, and this is what you have to keep in my when playing. To me a good game, has a good story, and smooth game play, and this ticks all my boxes.
