Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
The world’s most popular football sim returns with numerous tweaks and additions to make it even more realistic in both gameplay and graphics. If England don’t win the World Cup you can always take solace in the latest Pro Evo.

The lowdown:
This latest sequel sees one of the biggest overhauls in the game’s history with the new improvements to the already impressive animation directly affecting the way you play. Dribbling with the ball is now easier but the quality of your passing and shooting now depends on the position of a player’s body in terms of both accuracy and power. Make a shot straight after a sharp turn, for example, and your chances of hitting the target are slim. Opponent and team artificial intelligence has also been greatly increased, to the point where every man on the pitch is thinking independently. Apart from the animation, the graphics in general have also been upgraded with much better player likenesses.

Most exciting moment:
Thanks to the new changes Pro Evo 6 plays a much more attacking game than previously, with counter attacks after a fluffed shot on goal made much easier than previously.

Since you ask:
Although the game doesn’t have the official FIFA World Cup license it does simulate an unofficial international tournament, including both qualifying rounds and the finals.

The bottom line:
The best just keeps getting better with the most beautiful virtual game ever.
HARRISON DENT

5 out of 5 stars I just love it quick to pick up impossible to put down   January 11, 2008

Well I spend my life now in limbo between this gorgeoulsy looking football game with nice basic controls and just a good old kick around and Mass Effect. Granted there is room for improvement in the game but its a bit like a movie that you love because it is so easy to watch and does not ask too much of you. This is great!

3 out of 5 stars Addictive, but bad for you   September 26, 2007

OK the first thing is, as a lot of people have already pointed out, that there's is loads missing from other versions of this game, if you've got a PS2, buy that version and add another star.
Second thing, as each passing year the difference between the outgoing pro and new one becomes more difficult to spot. Pro 6's graphics are slightly sharper, but the game seems to run at a slower pace.
Third thing, the game AI. Pro ecourages you as a player to keep it a short passing game as much as possible, I'm sure this is the reason it is so difficult to make long passes and overhead through balls, so you adjust your tactics accordingly. But occasionally a dog kickingly frustrating bit of rubbish AI pop up out of nowhere. Defenders run away from attackers when you take control of them. The game constantly switches team members when you're trying to defend. Attackers inexpicaply slow down when trying to get to long balls. These don't happen too often, but when they do ...
Finally online, it's not bad, creating a custom match can take forever when trying to find someone to play, but the patches that have been release over the last year seem to have sorted that one out.
Should you buy it ? If you've got pro 5 on ps2, no keep your money. If you've got a 360, it's better than FIFA (If I want proper names and kits I'll buy a sticker album), so I'd say possibly, wait and see what the reviews on pro 2008 are like.

4 out of 5 stars Good but doesn't live to expectations   September 3, 2007

pro evo 6 is overall pretty good for the xbox 360 however there are many places in the game where it is basically a stripped down version of the PS2 version just with better graphics. For example the edit mode is taken out nearly all together and some Master League features are taken out. However in the 360 version the physics, player movement, AI and graphics are much better and in HD.

5 out of 5 stars Played it for Hours and Hours   August 22, 2007

'Pro Evolution Soccer' has been my choice of football game for years now and it's because each incarnation is fun to play and very addictive. After a brief foray into the world of Fifa I realised that the handling and simulation of the beautiful game was so much better in Pro Evo. There are a few issues with the game:

Smaller size than PS2 version
Graphics not top notch
Slowdown online

However, I am able to overlook these faults due to the sheer enjoyment I have had with this game in the past year. I play this more than any other game in my collection; on my own, against my friends or online. There is no other game out there that I can switch on and have 4 blokes playing one another in seconds. I hope that some improvements to the engine and options are made for Pro Evo 2008, but this is still another classic addition to the series.

2 out of 5 stars Frustrating   August 17, 2007
S. Jordan (Warrington)
I agree with J. Flint completely on this game. I've come to expect a lot from the Pro Evo series but this is terrible. The controls are slow and it feels like you constantly have an uphill battle to retain possession due to this. The automatic player changing is crucifying, when you don't want it to change it does and you've already pressed the slide tackle button and when you do want it to change it seems absolutely clueless as to who is closest to the ball. I've played online a few times now and have been destroyed as a result of the terrible dynamics of this game. Avoid at all costs.
