Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A really honest review,   March 20, 2008

There has always been the battle for the ice hockey title since EA Sports and 2 k Sports locked horns with each other. Now I've read many reviews, both good and bad on both sides of the coin.
I have to say that I've always had EA Sports offerings. Some strange reviews have come out for both these titles, and so I went and bought the 2kSports version.
A number of complaints were brought about the rubbish graphics, this I find strange as they are brilliant.
Controls are supposed to be awkward, and yet there are many moves and controls that once mastered are still needing that little bit of skill to get right. This makes it all the more rewarding when you pull off that great move.
The 'puck' it was said is bigger than the end of the hockey stick, due to the shadowing to make it more visible, but there are many, many options that can be turned off in the options menu, and this is one of them. In fact, when it is turned off it really has better realism than EA Sports 'puck' does.
The game is in real time, so that if you set it to 20 mins per period, that is what you get. Not racing minutes like the other version.
The game is exceptional, the realism has many setting under the menu, and can be altered to suit just how real you want it.
It has an enourmous management franchise mode, and will keep anybody that are into the facts and figures, and contracting for players, and juggling with the team to make it just that bit stronger playing for many months, all this gives a very complete package indeed.
I remember the reviews about the fifa and pro evo battle, and the cruel reviews about the latter, yet what a game!!! I just think so many people don't like change, and that they have always had EA Sports, and anything else is just rubbish, this, I feel clouds their judgement. Look closer at this game by 2 k Sports, and in all honesty, it really does satisfy. I've been an EA Sports fan for many years, This offering by 2 k just blows me away. Yes I know that EA produce a really good game, but just something seems to be to 'computerey' (if that's a word!!).
With this one, you really feel that you are on the ice, and that you are part of a winning.....or losing hockey team!!?
I would recommend this to anyone into ice hockey, skillful play, and management. Excellent stuff.
