1 out of 5 stars Awful!   September 18, 2008
James Lee (London, England)
Top Spin 1 and 2 were great. Easy to pick up and fun to play.

In this second sequel it seems the makers, in an attempt to make the game realistic forgot to make it fun. Horrible dynamics and thoroughly infuriating gameplay makes this game almost unplayable.

Long gone is the conventional one button hit to return shots, instead we have to time shots precisely and press a button to pump up the shot and then press again to release! Three manouvres to return one shot is simply ridiculous. The characters are way too slow to allow fluid gameplay, and the timing requires the patience of a saint to perfect. Boring and a general nusiance to play, might I suggest that buyers/ renters get the prequels instead, or even Virtua Tennis 3 (another deeply flawed tennis game, but with better controls).

4 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect   August 6, 2008
Review_Guy (London, UK)
Top Spin. One of the best tennis games on the market. First of all, I must say that this is better than Virtua Tennis and is also an improvement on Top Spin 2.

The first improvement is realism. Top Spin 2 still had a slight arcade feeling to it but this has much more realism which include better looking players and movements. Another improvement is in the Career Mode. It's more revamped and much better than the one used in Top Spin 2. It's a nice improvement, made it one of the best tennis games ever.

One issue with the game though is the controls. Especially if you have played Top Spin 2. It's much more of a test to hit the ball so beware. I recommend using the new feature "Top Spin School" and learn the basics. Even if you have played your way through Top Spin 2. It's a lot different.

Another negative with the Xbox 360 version is the fact that Rafael Nadal is not featured in the game. Although if you have a Playstation 3 system, then Rafael Nadal IS available. So, better choose the PS3 version for a slightly improved game.

Overall, it's a good game. But some minor issues have not made the game perfect although only just. I recommend the game to all tennis fans, as it can provide a good amount of hours of fun.

4 out of 5 stars Best Tennis Game Yet But..............   July 21, 2008
Derek Williams (Chester England)
Amazing graphics, great camera angles a very realistic tennis game indeed, but I think they should of given us a choice on which controls to use. The new control system is okay on easy or normal but when it comes to using it on hard its a different matter all together, having said that it still would'nt be easy anyway.Like most games they can't get the balance right easy is to easy and hard is to hard.

5 out of 5 stars one drawback to this game   July 14, 2008

The only drawback to owning this game is that you're STUCK!!! with Andy Flaming Murray on the front damn cover!!!!!!! Man I can't stand him!!!! I don't care that he's English cause I'm English. But flaming hell he's now on games! Jeez! LMAO!!!!!! Anyway sorry, Class game this is, and it's fantastic that Tennis is getting a better reputation now instead of crappy and yobbo filled Football ;)

4 out of 5 stars Really good, but some parts are dissapointing   July 12, 2008
Mrs. S. Marsh (wales)
Right this game is awesome, and i really reccomend buying it.
Only 2 things really bug me about this game

1. No Wimbledon. i really cant think why they wouldnt put the biggest tennis tournement in the world on this game.
2. Is it just me or is it always a 50/50 chance that you will return a serve? becasue when i do it i either get it back, but mostly it just hits me, or my guy runs out of the way, which really pisses me off
