4 out of 5 stars AS GOOD AS IT GETS   June 30, 2008

just like the other c+c game for the 360 this is a good game made better with all the new unit types and factions, and to be honest that was the main reason i bought this game.

they've added something called kanes challenge, not played that myself yet but once i'm through the game i'll give it a bash.

i've always liked the c+c games and still have all the original ones for the psone, having waited so long on it coming back out on a console rather than a pc i was pleased how good the first one was and this one is just as good.

2 out of 5 stars Great add on, but why the heavy cost?   June 27, 2008

I have played this expansion on the PC and its great fun for 14.95 approx, however after realising its actually more fun to play on the 360 I decided to wait for the release of this game.
I was shocked to discover that it would cost around 25, whereas the PC version was 15...I understand the 360 version has the original game bolted into it, but what about the people who have already got the original and only want the expansion? I would have thought that releasing this pack as it stands is fine for people who want both the orginal and the new add on in one shot, but surely an Xbox Live version should be available with only the new units on costing approx 15....

Great add on, but should be in 2 versions - an Xbox Live "lite" version and this version

5 out of 5 stars Full Game Review   March 10, 2008

Kane's Wrath is an evolution of C&C3 Tiberium Wars that features new maps, factions and units. Most of the emphasis is on improving the online experience but it also contains a moderate amount of new single player material. You do not need the original C&C3 to run this game.

For your money you get a single NOD campaign complete with Kane's Challenge, Skirmish and Live modes. The new campaign is actually very good and far more varied than those in Tiberium Wars. I found the original campaigns a bit of a chore with its extensive commando and escort based missions and Kane's Wrath still has this but they have been watered down a lot with build a base and destroy missions (my favourite).

The new units bring a lot to the game and the balance has been carefully implemented between the new factions. Some factions for example have no air power at all while others emphasise it. This brings a lot to the game as too much of Tiberium Wars boiled down to mammoth tank or venom spamming. I also felt that GDI was clearly the most powerful faction but that is no longer the case. The factions have all had additions to make them stronger but they have also had weapons removed to make them weaker. For example, ZOCOM and Steel Talons have Mammoth Tanks yet ZOCOM does not have the rail gun upgrade. To compensate they get Sonic Towers while Steel Talons suffer on with early game base cannons.

If I didn't have Xbox Live I'd still buy this although Kane's Wrath value lies in it's multiplayer which is as sharp as ever. You get all the new factions (6+ original 3), units, powers, tech upgrades and maps (50) on top of what you had in Tiberium Wars. In fact, Tiberium Wars is obsolete unless you are still battling through the single player missions.

The new control system is good and it enables you to build without scrolling to your base and selecting structures. They have also fixed certain game play bugs like power plant snaking (lowest of the low - you know who you are) and you can now move your vehicles to a destination via waypoints rather than depending on your unit's own suicidal initiative. Another welcome addition is the ability for your units to retreat while facing forward.

The dark side to the new control system is that there is often a brief lag after you place a building. The game still goes on and you get control back within a second but at times it feels like a lifetime, especially when you're under fire. I also paid 400 points on a 4 map pack for Tiberium Wars yet they are not available for selection on Kane's Wrath which is a shame as they were good maps.

All in all, if you have Xbox Live running this is a 5 star game and offers substantial upgrades to the multiplayer experience as well a cherry on top in the form of a single player campaign. If you don't have Live then you won't get as much for your money and I only recommend it for those who completed Tiberium Wars and remain thirsty for more campaign action.

The last edition in EA's renown C&C series was at it's best and took console games of that type to a new level, with new maps, units a storyline there i no doubt this will continue.

Things to look forward to are Improved juggernauts now with carriers for sniper teams and millipedes the new scrin unit that grows on its destruction.
