A Poor Game August 6, 2008 Review_Guy (London, UK) Another Dragonball Z game. Personally, I sighed when I heard about it and I knew it would flop. God, was I right. The Story Mode or whatever you call it is quite poor with only three sagas effectively and a number of short levels which all have one purpose...beat the other person in a fight. You just do the same again and again until you complete the game...BORING. The Arcade Mode is alright and the only reason why this game is a two-star and not a one. Simple enough and characters are easy enough to get. Just complete the story mode and you have a wide range although there is the inclusion of Boo which was a massive disappointment. Overall, a pretty pointless game that is hardly any fun. Only at first. But after a while, Story Mode wears thin and Arcade Mode gets boring eventually. Not worth buying, it's a waste of money. Buy/Don't Buy: DON'T BUY
Good but not what i had expected July 27, 2008 Mr. Gregory J. M. Dimoline when i first saw that dragonball z: burst limit was coming out, i was excited beyond words, i was expecting it to be much better than budokai tenkaichi 3 (ps2) which is still much better than burst limit. i heard that burst limit was 3d but when i played it for the first time i was shocked, in tenkaichi 3 there feels like there was much more freedom in the was the character moved (flying, locking system, charging ki, etc). also the fighting system was ok but not great, when playing, it looks more or less 3d but the was it feels when playing is like it has gone backwards to the old budokai 1,2,3 games. the main horror of this game are the characters that you can use...i mean can't use (over 100 chars) which is a bit on an outrage. if i wasn't a great fan of dbz, i would probably have rated this game with 1 star. on the other hand, the way it follows the story is fun and quite accurate except for a few char voices and also brolly talks too much. i suggest you only buy it if you are a good dbz fan
super saiyan fun! June 6, 2008 Shuya (a small room) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
burst limit is the latest in a long line of Dragonball games and it is the first for the new consoles (360 & PS3) and is replete with a brand new graphics engine to take advantage of the new hardware. The new graphics are "shiny" looking great, the basic control system is simple, with a few touches to make that will make the difference for button bashers and players. Drama peices take effect during the match and have varying effects to limited healing, to deflecting attacks, these can be chosen in the trials and versus matches. There are (apparently, havnt actually counted) 20 players and taken from the 3 "sagas" the game plays through, the saiyan saga, the freiza saga and the android/cell saga. Unfortuanately it ends where most DBZ games to, at the end of the Cell saga, but there are to bonus "sagas" that appear when you complete the original three, they arnt official sagas but pretty much, but im not spoiling the suprise. The campaign features quite alot of games, but as with many fighting cames there is only so long it can be, and i played through it in about a day on normal. Meaning single player may become boring. BUT, the main strength of fighting games is multiplayer, and Burst limit's is fun. You choose your player, his ultimate move (most characters have a couple to choose from, and they will effect your playing style) and then your "partner" and support, he sits on the side lines and may offer help depending on your support choices. Suppport includes the drama peices earlier and things like partner support and senzu beans. Combat is fast and furious, ki (energy) no longer needs to be charged but replenishes itself. Versus games are fun, especially with friends, but when online beware of people with low bandwidth/connection speed, and when joining battles your oppenents speed is shown next to your speed. Its no fun when your jerking around the screen and moves are coming out of nowhere. DBZ; Burst limit, is a fun game and an improvement on previous ones. It may get old, but if you liked the previous ones you should like this. p.s. if your not sure there is a demo on xbox live for download that features 2 of the battles from the singleplayer campaign.
