4 out of 5 stars A Driving Brilliance   August 4, 2004

This game stands out from all the other Driving games, in the fact that you dont only get to race it YOU GET TO CONSTRUCT IT AND DESIGN IT TOO. It is very good graphics and the idea is genius. This game has not got the attention it deservs so lets start now! Buy it now it is so cheap and so brilliant just one click of a button and it is at your doorstep in 2 days :)BRILLIANT! If there are any critisisms then i guess you could say that it is quite repetitive, but for such a low price i think it is a must have!

5 out of 5 stars Ridge Racer for the XBox   April 28, 2003

its may look like GT3 on the PS2 but this plays like a full arcade game.
just get in and race; no farting about with tuning the car, its all about your driving skill and fetures some of the best courses ever in a driving game. plus it gives 'Project Gotham Racing' a good run for its money in the graphics stakes :-)
the handling is very well done with you being able to drift around corners; such fun after sensible games like 'World Racing'
your able to build your own car in the 'dream mode' but in realality you only get to choose from three car types; which is a shame. arcade mode lets you drive real cars that you've unlocked from the dream mode, with the likes of the GT1 and CLK GTR makeing a apirence; all of them modeled buetifully

i would get this game if your tired of all the raceing sims out there and just wont a quick 'blast' every now and again

4 out of 5 stars Racing evoluzione; The original game   March 16, 2003

This game is excellent. It makes a change from those boring old arcadey games like gran turismo which have been done over and over again. Racing Evoluzione is original it has the element of developing and customizing your own car company (to an extent) which hasnt been explored before unless it was a tycoon kind of game. The only reason I gave this game a 4 rating because of the crispy sound effects but atleast you can put your own music over it. This is a great game and one not to be missed.

Just excellent. Great cars, great tracks and great racing. The theme of the game is you get given a small old garage and find several designs for a roadster. You get your mechanic freind to build the car and then you go race it. Your racing performance relates to how many sales of the car you get. The more sales you get the more research funds you have to build another car. As you go throught the game your car company grows into a world beater.
There are real cars to race against which (once unlocked) you can race yourself in quick race mode. There are also plenty of circuits that have almost life like back grounds. This makes the driving experience feel more realistic.
Another bonus is that you can play music saved on the xbox harddisk.
Overall it is the best driving game out and the closest thing on the xbox to grand turismo three on PS2.

4 out of 5 stars An evolution in racing games?   March 10, 2003

Ok, not quite but it's prety damn fun. Start off with a an old garage and some designs for concept cars. Work your way up gaining sales by winning races and then design more cars to race in other classes. It's similar to the story mode in Ridge Racer 4, but taken a step further.

The graphics on this game are absolutely beutiful, probably the best I've seen in an Xbox title to date. Detailed tracks and excelent effects make every race a gorgeous visual feast.

The sound lets the game down somwhat. The sounds of vehicls crashing together are weak and almost laughable. The music also skips from time to time.

The races themselves are always action packed. Awsome track design makes this game for me. the tracks are split into 4 catagories: City, Track, Mountain and Speedway/Stadium. The mix of track types leads to a driving style that needs to be a little bit of Ridge Racer, Project Gotham and GT3.

The AI on the other cars can be frustrating at times, as they are quick to block you, and always come off better than you after an impact. The game uses the "Catchup" style of racing where you'll get an increase in acceleration when in a lower position, but the same is true of the AI, so there's lots of "pack racing" where the opponents are tightly huddled together. The down side of this is that the opponents are only a couple of bad corners behind you no matter how well you've been driving. Driving the entire race perfectly but blowing the last corner of the final lap will nearly always result in you coming in last.

Multiplayer is fun if a little limited. It's just 2 player head-head. You can choose any of the tracks and cars that you've unlocked from the main game. What it's missing however is the option to set up multiple races, change the settings of the cars (gearbox type and downforce) and even just changing the number of laps from 2.

Overall this is a fun title with good ideas and amazing graphics but flawed gameplay. It's worth getting, but it's not the perfect racing game I'd been hoping for.

Here's hoping that the sequil will be better.
