Amazon.co.uk Review Fast circuits and faster cars combine with deep, challenging gameplay to make Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing II one of the most exciting Xbox experiences to date. With over 100 different types of vehicle, including SUVs, compact cars and even Porsches and Ferraris, PGR creates an experience that is both engaging and exciting. It has the spirit of "just one more go" like little else. In offline mode, players compete for Kudos points, taking part in time trials, road races and a variety of high-speed challenges that allow them to unlock new cars and circuits from the many on offer. These unlocked treats can then be played single player or taken online and raced with competitors over the Xbox Live system. It's almost bewildering to race around the tight streets of Italy in a Mini Cooper then take over the wheel of some ludicrously overpowered American muscle car and attempt to keep it in a straight line as the power to the back wheels constantly forces it to fishtail out of control. Full credit must go to programmers Bizarre Creations for not only furnishing the game with a broad range of vehicles but also making each one feel so very different--changing car classes can be quite a challenge. With locations around the world (Australia, Russia, Spain and even Edinburgh featuring strongly), the graphical look of the game is lush and a real treat for the eyes. Birds soar lazily over the racetracks, there's no popup to speak of and in Yokohama even the big wheel in the distant fairground is fully animated--though at the speed this games moves along it's unlikely you'll have time to check it out. Take PGR2 online and the fun really begins--there's simply nothing like blasting through the tyre smoke of a multi-car pile-up and taunting the opposition as you roar into the distance. Pages could be written about how engaging, absorbing, deep and exciting this game is but it's enough to say it's destined to be a massive hit. It's a must for petrol-heads everywhere. --Chris Russell

Potentially good, but fundamentally flawed game September 6, 2007 eddie23 (here) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Potentially a very good driving game, however the physics are sometimes frankly bizzare and the ai is practically non existant, I'd even go as far as to say it has a.s. (artificial stupidity). Go and but Gran Tourismo instead!
great fun! February 11, 2007 Colin Melia (Sheffield, UK) I don't normally play driving games, because normally they bore me. I borrowed this from a friend and was pleasantly surprised, and even though i normally only play FPS's, I'm totally hooked! The controls are superb, they really have got it spot on. The graphics are great too, and so are the maps. It was very disconcerting to say the least, driving round Edin borough, and recognizing buildings and roads. Basically, this is a great driving game for everybody, easily accessible, and probably the best driving game i have ever played.
The best game on the xbox November 21, 2006 Tim Barton (Southampton, UK) Very simple really, the best game on the xbox. Graphics are great, gameplay is great. ONly minor niggle, the cone challenge becomes so hard towards the end of the kudos world series mode that I can only complete it on the easiest setting.
It's Not Bad!! April 15, 2005 Raigar (Gamer From England!) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
In this racing game you can play for Kudos tokens with these you can unlock new Cars or you can play just against other bot cars for no tokens it's your choice this is a really good car racing game which is Online Enabled so you can play against other gamers from all over the world taunt them destroy them show em who's boss to get up in the scoreboards you haveta win you start at rank 1 the higher the better to begin with I thought Rank 1 was the highest but well I was wrong lol anyway this game can also play music that you have saved on your Xbox during offline play and online play too so if you dont like any music that is already on the game but you have a favourite soundtrack saved onto your Xbox then you can listen to that soundtrack not the crappy music on the game it's really cool anyway this game is well worth it if you have or dont have Xbox Live but ov course Xbox Live is better it makes games more fun but dont fret yous that dont have it it's still a good game without itGraphics: 6/10 Storyline: hmm dont really have 1 it's a sports game Music: the music already on it is crap but I'll give it a 4/10 but it gets 10/10 at the fact it's a game that lets you play soundtracks saved on your Xbox
Project Gotham Racing 2 September 28, 2004 R HICKTON (WORCESTER United Kingdom) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very good game, but only buy if you are a racing fan, if not then it is a waste of money. With over 100 cars ranging from mini cooper s to ferrari enzos. There is a lot to offer the hardcore racing fan on challenging tracks. I would recommend this to a fan of the racing genre.
